^Johan mie tuon Ride The Skyn hankin tossa muutama kuukausi sitten. En enää muista paljonko maksoi, mutta ainakin alle kympin oli onnissa. Osta pois, ei se mikään taideteos ole, mutta riittävän hyvä kuitenkin.

Tänne kun oli olosuhteiden pakosta nämä Rob Rock- & johdannaisprojektijutut viime aikoina (vuosina) kerätty, niin uuden Impellitterin (palasi taannoin bändiin sitten vuosituhannen vaihteen) kohdalla ei ainakaan ylisanoja säästellä:

^Kovasti kiinnostaa, joo. Rob Rockilla varustetut äänitteet tulee myös täällä kerättyä talteen, eikä kauheasti ole tarvinnut pettyä. Jos oikein miettii, niin soolo Garden Of Chaos, Driver ja Fires Of Babylon viime ajoilta ovat oikein mainioita. Miksei siis tuokin, aikaisempaa Impellitterin tuotantoa omistavana arvelisin, että Chrisin ja Robin kemiat synnyttävät jälleen jotain kuuntelemisen arvoista.

When Heiman left LOST HORIZON, how much do you feel that affected the progress of the band?

Well, in one way not at all, in other a lot. Daniel's presence is not needed for making songs just as good as they were so far, but the time has shown that from the practical point of view there is probably no LOST HORIZON without Daniel. In theory there is, as there are a lot of great known singers in the world, who could do a good job, but they are just or mostly theoretical options. There are some main and some smaller reasons for both poles, which I won't include here. Although, worth mentioning about all those known singers around the world, is that during those three years of Daniel's absence none of these conceited dickheads has voluntarily shown interest in singer position of LOST HORIZON (not including the great number of contributions sent from a lot of different unknown singers from the whole world). It has proofed once again - for us and for those who always claimed that and knew it - that this is a scene/forum consisting mostly of primitive and superficial low lifes, with no depth and definitely no insight of what and who are of value. Their content-less and gigantically boring bands are the perfect arenas for those hollow cave troglodytes to flourish and hide behind. Fuck off.

Would you be opposed to Heiman possibly rejoining, or contributing vocals to the band again?

I would not. I am not seeing everything like I did before. Many of things that were important to me some years ago are not anymore, or I just gave them up. I have realized that some of them are fighting of windmills, or simply not worth energy loss when it comes to the bigger part of the forum it's received by, nor even closely adequate to the dividend. Nowadays it's more or less enough for me when people do their work professionally and are not respectless or pissing off (not talking about Daniel here at all, just general and meaning all areas in life). I don't expect dedication from anyone.

Kuulostipa hyvältä tuo Bloodbound ja Urbaniakin mukava kuulla pitkästä aikaa. Vaikka mies tuntuu liittyvän harva se päivä johonkin bändiin niin tämä taitaa silti olla eka levytys sitten Bloodboundin debyytin. Se oli kaikista oikeista elementeistä huolimatta aika tylsää menoa mutta tämä kuulosti jo paljon paremmalta.

ROB ROCK's (IMPELLITTERI, DRIVER, JOSHUA) September 27, 2008 performance at the ProgPower USA IX festival at Center Stage in Atlanta, Georgia was recorded/filmed for a live CD/DVD release, "The Voice Of Melodic Metal - Live In Atlanta", due in Europe on May 22 via AFM Records and in the U.S. on June 30 through Regain/KOCH. The set will be available as a CD and DVD/CD package.

Rob's first official DVD release since the "voice of melodic metal" began his 20-year singing career, it includes bonus interviews, behind-the-scenes footage, and selections from current and past bands, tours, rehearsals and concert footage that has been previously unreleased. This is also Rob's first-ever live CD and features song performances from his four acclaimed solo albums and other selections from his past studio recordings.

^Selviöhän tuo. On niin kova äijä mikin varressa livenäkin, että aivan ehdotonta kamaa. Ken ei tuota tajua ja jättää hankkimatta niin voi voi. Setti on hyvin "uutuuspainotteinen", mutta timantinkova. Pari todella hankalaa livebiisiä, mielenkiinnolla odotan.

Mapella arviossa ex-Highland Glory-vokalisti Jan Thore Grefstadin nykyinen bändi, sattumoisin monessa (biisinkirjoitus) sopassa mukanaolleen Ronny Milianowiczin kanssa. Mulla on mennyt ihan ohi, että tämä on jo toinen levynsä.

^Sulta menee ihan liikaa ohi. Tää uusin on lyhyt ja ytimekäs, oikein hyvä. Edellinen on ihan helvatan hyvä. Oonhan mä tota(kin) täällä hehkuttanut ja taisin jonnekin noita linkkejä postata. Grefstad on yksi noista eliittilaulajista, joita onneksi on siinnyt meikäläisen listoille viime vuosina melkoisen paljon korvaamaan poistumassa olevat legendat. Peck, Lande, Grefstad ja useampi ruotsalainen jne.

Kieltämättä Midnight oli kunnian päivinään yksi niistä kavereista jotka olivat ihan omassa luokassaan. Kuolinsyystäkin ("total kidney and liver failure") voi kuitenkin päätellä mikä oli homman nimi viimeiset ainakin 15 vuotta. Musiikillinen annettava taisi olla aika lailla nollan tasoa viime vuosina vaikka olihan sillä kaikenlaista sooloprojektia tekeillä. Ei nyt kuolla olisi kuitenkaan tarvinnut.

^Se on tää maailma ihmeellinen paikka, Midnight tappaa itsensä 47-vuotiaana ryyppäämällä, toinen vokalistijumala David Wayne kuolee niinikään 47-vuotiaana (toki jo v.2005 kunhan tuli iästä mieleen), autokolarin jälkeisiin komplikaatioihin. "Oma valinta" ja ei niin oma valinta. You never know tai you´re days are numbered etc.

Tosiaankin todella sääli juttu, hra MacDonald oli ollut kai jo hyvinkin 1990-luvusta lähtien pullon hengen kanssa hengaamassa ja se klassisin lopputuloshan tuo on a-holismille.

Perhana kun asia oli kai suurimpana syynä ryssimässä 2005-06 reunionia, youtube-pätkien myötä voi vain lisätä vitutusta kun kreikkalaiset saivat 2006 festareilleenkin Crimson Gloryn Midnightin kanssa esiintymään. Olisi aika kiva ollut joo, jos mahdollisuus olisi annettu. Nyt lähimmäksi kosketukseksi jää 2003 Tuskassa Lost Horizonin vetämä Red Sharks, joka sekin toki oli ikimuistoista.

Miehen myspace-sivuilta muuten löytyy tällainen Sarah McLachlan (kuka?)-cover, jota hautajaislaulukseen nimitetään. Mutta merkittävämpänä tsorlin aiemmin postaama Painted Skies-remake Jon Olivan kanssa, jossa kitaristinsa Matt LaPorte oli kai tuottajana. Varsin upea... kuten myös Midin signature-biisi Lost Reflection v. 2008 versiona. Äärimmäisen harvoin tulee kulunutta ja meille kuulumatonta klisheetä käytettyä, mutta R.I.P.

Vaikka Midnight ei ole koskaan kuulunut ihan omiin suosikkeihini korkealta laulavista vokalisteista, niin parhaimmillaan oli kyllä erittäin omaperäinen ja hyvä laulaja (tietyt Geoff Tate -sävyt miehen äänessä ovat mainioita). Eipähän mies ole ilmeisesti saanut aikaan kovin kummoista kamaa aikoihin, joten ei siinä mielessä ole suuri menetys musiikillisesti. Ikävä uutinen joka tapauksessa.

Tämä biisi on sekä sävellyksenä, että laulusuorituksensa ansiosta edustanut minun korvilleni parasta Crimson Glorya. Tosin kokonaan en ole edes paria ensimmäistä pitkäsoittoa kuullut, vaan lähinnä irtobiiseinä on tullut yhtyettä kuunneltua. Pitänee ostaa joku päivä nuo pari ensimmäistä Midnightin vokalisoimaa CG-lättyä hyllyyn.

As this is our only US show date scheduled for 2009, this promises to be a truly memorable show for long-time fans as well as the “new blood” with something for everybody, and we feel that Midnight would be very pleasantly surprised to know that so many gifted singers have stepped up to lend their unique voices to his tribute.

We realize that many ProgPower USA attendees were coming to this year’s fest to see specific bands, the absence of whom have allowed us this great opportunity to perform. It is our sincere hope that the varied lineup of guest performers we have selected will ensure that all who attend this year get something truly personal and special from our show.
