As always, delays are part of the creative process for this band to make the final product the very best it can be. In the 8 years I've worked with Iron Maiden not once has the album, DVD, single or book ever been released on schedule. It's purely down to the fact it has to be perfect in the eye's of Rod and the band and I think the fans appreciate that.
Anyway, that`s the answer I got. Maybe stupid of me to put it on here, but as a Fan, aged over 30, seen them live on 8 different tours and has a collection of over 400 titles, this is anyway what they answered me. Fair, but I really hope to see it official sooner rather than later!

Ymmärsinkö mää ny ihan oikein, että siinä on sama konsertti kahdella eri levyllä, mutta ääniraita on niissä eri, eli toisella on tavallinen stereo ja toisella 5.1? Ja kolmas levy on se jo kauan tiedossa ollut dokumentti ja perus bonushässäkät...
Ei kyllä tän odottelun jälkeen aiheuta niin minkäänlaisia riemunkiljahduksia. Tattis.

^No eihän se haittaa mitään vaikka siinä se 5.1 on mukana. Koska nehän sanoivat ettei se tuo mitään lisämaksua(eli dvd on saman hintainen kuin 2 dvd:n paketti) joten mitä se haittaa se tuo vaan hyötyä sitte niille kenellä on mahollisuudet hyödyntä toi jutska. Mä en kyl ees tajuu mikä juttu toi 5.1 on

Joo, mutta kun julkaisua lykätään ensin, sitten lykätään vähän lisää ja ilmoitetaan, että mukana on kolmas levy, niin jotenkin sille kolmannelle levylle olisi odottanut jotain konkreettisempaa sisältöä. IRON MAIDEN have now confirmed the release date of their much anticipated DVD release DEATH ON THE ROAD for 6th February 2006 through EMI Records. This will initially be available as a limited edition special digipack.
The DVD package contains the full performance of their ‘Dance of Death Tour’ in December 2003. Filmed at the Westenfalenhalle Arena, Dortmund the show has been personally edited by founder band member Steve Harris, to fully capture the magnificent stage production and to cut right to the heart and the electricity of the bands’ performance. Over a four month period Steve made thousands of edits, thus ensuring he was personally happy with every single shot included!
Says Steve Harris, 'We realise that the fans have been made to wait a little longer than planned for the DVD to come out but as they know - we won't settle for anything but the best and the extra time and effort spent in the final production of this DVD should be apparent. I can safely say that when people see songs like 'Paschendale' and 'Dance Of Death' their jaws will hit the floor as mine did when I saw the final product on my TV at home. With visuals like this and the show played in 5.1 on a decent system it's just like being in the front rows of the show.'
To ensure top quality and to avoid any compromise in reproducing the very best possible sound and picture quality, the band have taken the unprecedented step of making the full concert available on two separate discs – one with full traditional stereo soundtrack and the other with specially mixed 5.1 sound by Kevin 'Caveman' Shirley – which along with the special features disc makes three discs in all.
Says Harris, 'I felt it important that this was done as we didn't want to be restricted. By having two seperate discs I was happy in knowing that neither picture nor sound quality would be compromised in any way. We are aware that many fans don't yet have access to 5.1 sound and still use stereo but if you put both sound beds on one disc with the concert a fair amount of visual quality can be lost due to the massive amount of information that needs storing. As this was quite a dark and theatrical show we refused to allow this to happen! However, so our fans aren't paying extra for a disc they may never use, we have arranged with EMI that the pricing will be the same as ‘Rock in Rio’ which was a 2 disc package. This way everyone gets the best possible quality show visually with the sound fully compatible for their system at no extra cost at all.'
The special features disc contains an exclusive documentary directed by Matthew Amos who also directed the bands’ award winning ‘Early Days’ documentary. It's an insight into the production of the ‘Dance of Death’ album from its writing and recording through to the detail in what it takes to get a massive show like Maiden on the road.
Says manager Rod Smallwood, 'The documentary is something quite special for the fans as it really is a very revealing portrait of how Maiden work together during recording, and it took me weeks to persuade them to let the cameras into the recording studio. Previously they'd never allowed any of this to be filmed but this time we decided to have a camera floating around to try and capture the Maiden recording process. A lot of it was filmed by Kevin Shirley and the band themselves. I think it's a great representation of the talent, effort and humour of a Maiden recording session. The documentary also covers what it takes to set up a major world tour and has various interviews with our Killer Krew and hopefully it will be as insightful and interesting as the well received ‘Early Days’ documentary footage which Matthew also directed.
As usual we have crammed as much as possible into the DVD with a host of extras including all of the promo videos from the album, background interviews with members of the production crew and fans during the tour, artwork, design sketches and photo galleries. Many hours of Maiden mayhem with a total running time of over three hours – and that's just the special features'.
The band are now taking a well deserved break following their hugely successful touring schedule this year, having headlined virtally every major festival in Europe including Reading and Leeds here in the UK, as well as taking the USA by storm on this year's Ozzfest bill. Preparations for the next studio album (their 14th) will begin in February next year with recording commencing in the Spring of 2006.

Hienoa että julkaisupäivä varmistui vihdoin (tai ainakin toivottavasti tämä päivämäärä on lopullinen). Vähemmän hienoa on se, että vielä joutuu yli kaksi kuukautta kyseistä tuotetta odottelemaan, mutta hyvää kannattaa odottaa. Maiden Maniassa nähtyjen pätkien perusteella odotukset ovat korkealla, ja olen odottanut dvd:tä Dance of Death -tourilta siitä lähtien kun sain kyseisen lätyn itselleni.

Miten AC/DC:n Stiff Upper Lip mahtuu yhdelle DVD:lle? Siinä on käsittääkseni erinomainen Widescreen 16:9 Anamorphic kuva sekä todella hyvä Stereo ; Dolby Digital (5.1) ; DTS ääniraita. Kolmas levy tulee olemaan ainakin allekirjoittaneelle merkittävin julkaisu vuosiin ellei jopa ikinä. Kamerat Iron Maiden studiossa dokumentoissa uuden studiolevyn syntyä on mielestäni kaikkein kiinnostavin aihe ikinä. Ihan sama mulle onko siinä sama konsertti kahteen kertaan eri äänellä, jos se ei kuitenkaan tuo hintaa lisää. Tuo bonuslevy vaikuttaa kylläkin erityisen mielenkiintoiselta. Varsinkin dokumentti levynteosta, se on varmasti hyvä.

Kyllä minuakin kiinnostaa tuo kolmas levy erittäin paljon, mutta saa nähdä onko toteutus millä tasolla. DVD sisältää Iron Maidenin konsertin Dortmund Wesfalenhalle Arenalta Saksasta joulukuulta 2003, joka oli osa yhtyeen massiivista "Dance of Death" Euroopan kiertuetta. Maidenin taianomainen ja yhteisöllinen live-tunnelma välittyy DVD:llä käsin kosketeltavasti. Tästä kaikesta on pitänyt huolta Iron Maidenin ylipäällikkö Steve Harris, joka on ollut mukana editoimassa konserttitaltiointia ja kirjoittanut omakätisesti sydänverellään jokaisen otoksen DVD:llä. Tästä pläjäyksestä ei enää maailman kuulu ratsastuslaukka parane!
DVD:n oli määrä ilmestyä jo syyskuussa 2005, mutta sen julkaisu viivästyi. "Me ymmärrämme, että fanimme ovat joutuneet odottamaan DVD:tä pidempään kuin oli tarkoitus, mutta he myös tietävät että emme tyydy muuta kuin parhaaseen mahdolliseen lopputulokseen ja lisäaika ja panostus jonka käytimme lopullisen DVD:n eteen kyllä näkyy. Voin luvata, että kun ihmiset näkevät kappaleet kuten "Paschendale" ja "Dance Of Death", heidän leukansa loksahtavat lattiaan kuten minulle kävi, kun katsoin lopputulosta kotona TV:stä. Konsertin visuaalisuus ja ääni 5.1 kelvollisella laitteella tuntuu kuin olisi itse konsertin eturivissä", kommentoi Steve Harris.
Iron Maiden päätti julkaista DVD:n kahdella erillisellä DVD-levyllä taatakseen parhaan mahdollisen kuvan ja äänen. Ensimmäinen levy sisältää konsertin tavanomaisella stereoäänellä ja toisen levyn on miksannut tuottajakettu Kevin "Caveman" Shirley 5.1. soundeille. Bonusmateriaalit lisättynä DVD kasvaa mahtipontiseksi kolmen DVD:n pläjäykseksi. Steve Harris kommentoi asiaa seuraavanlaisesti "Tiedämme, että monilla faneilla ei ole vielä mahdollisuutta 5.1. soundiin ja he käyttävät vielä stereoita, mutta jos laitat molemmat äänipohjat yhdelle levylle niin osa visuualisesta laadusta saattaa kärsiä ison tiedoston takia. Koska tämä on erittäin tumma ja teatraalinen show halusimme taata että näin ei käy! Jotta faniemme ei tarvitsisi maksaa ylimääräistä levystä, jota he eivät ikinä käytä, sovimme EMI:n kanssa että hinnoittelut on sama kuin "Rock in Rio" DVD:ssä, joka oli 2 levyn paketti. Tällä tavoin kaikki saavat nauttia parhaasta mahdollisesta laadusta sekä visuaalisesti että soundillisesti ilman extrakuluja".
DVD:LLÄ YLI 3 TUNTIA EXTRAA
Iron Maidenin "Death On The Road" DVD-paketti sisältää myös Matthew Amoksen ohjaaman dokumentin, joka on aiemmin ohjannut mm. Maidenin palkitun "Early Days"-dokumentin. Dokumenttissa on mukana tarinaa "Dance Of Death"-levyn tekoprosessista sekä materiaalia kiertueen ennakkovalmisteluista.
Kolmen DVD:n pakettiin on haalittu mahdollisimman paljon extraa yli kolmen tunnin edestä, kuten Maidenin faniystävälliseen tapaan kuuluu. Messissä on dokkarin lisäksi myös musiikkivideoita, bändin esiintyminen Etelä-Afrikassa, yhtyeen jäsenten, tuotantotiimin ja fanien haastatteluja sekä valokuvagalleria.
Iron Maiden on tällä hetkellä hyvin ansaitulla tauolla erittäin onnistuneen kiertueen jäljiltä. Maidenin 14. studioalbumin työstäminen alkaa helmikuussa 2006 ja se äänitetään kevään 2006 aikana.

Steve Harris kommentoi asiaa seuraavanlaisesti "Tiedämme, että monilla faneilla ei ole vielä mahdollisuutta 5.1. soundiin ja he käyttävät vielä stereoita, mutta jos laitat molemmat äänipohjat yhdelle levylle niin osa visuualisesta laadusta saattaa kärsiä ison tiedoston takia. Koska tämä on erittäin tumma ja teatraalinen show halusimme taata että näin ei käy! Jotta faniemme ei tarvitsisi maksaa ylimääräistä levystä, jota he eivät ikinä käytä, sovimme EMI:n kanssa että hinnoittelut on sama kuin "Rock in Rio" DVD:ssä, joka oli 2 levyn paketti. Tällä tavoin kaikki saavat nauttia parhaasta mahdollisesta laadusta sekä visuaalisesti että soundillisesti ilman extrakuluja".
DVD:LLÄ YLI 3 TUNTIA EXTRAA
Iron Maidenin "Death On The Road" DVD-paketti sisältää myös Matthew Amoksen ohjaaman dokumentin, joka on aiemmin ohjannut mm. Maidenin palkitun "Early Days"-dokumentin. Dokumenttissa on mukana tarinaa "Dance Of Death"-levyn tekoprosessista sekä materiaalia kiertueen ennakkovalmisteluista.
Kolmen DVD:n pakettiin on haalittu mahdollisimman paljon extraa yli kolmen tunnin edestä, kuten Maidenin faniystävälliseen tapaan kuuluu. Messissä on dokkarin lisäksi myös musiikkivideoita, bändin esiintyminen Etelä-Afrikassa, yhtyeen jäsenten, tuotantotiimin ja fanien haastatteluja sekä valokuvagalleria.
Iron Maiden on tällä hetkellä hyvin ansaitulla tauolla erittäin onnistuneen kiertueen jäljiltä. Maidenin 14. studioalbumin työstäminen alkaa helmikuussa 2006 ja se äänitetään kevään 2006 aikana.
