Kuunnelkaahan muut. Witheria on yksi Suomen kovimmista bändeistä. :finger:

Sama homma. Itsellä on edellisetkin levyt hyllyssä, joten tuon uuden munapaskahumpan kuuntelu tapahtuu vasta levyn kolahtaessa postilaatikkoon. :D

Witheria press release - 12 January 2014

I - New album: "Devastating Return"

The fourth album will be titled "Devastating Return". It was recorded in September/October 2013 at the SoundSpiral Audio in Kouvola, Finland and contains 8 songs and 40+ minutes of progressive and aggressive metal, pushing Witheria's trademark sound even further. We are looking for a record label to release this opus in 2014 - all interested labels should get in touch!

II - Line-up complete!

As Lappis is now concentrating on guitar, we have been looking for a bass player to complete the line-up. We are proud to introduce Max Pekkonen as the new bass player in Witheria. Max also plays guitar in The Jasser Arafats and fits our line-up perfectly with his strong bass playing skills and superb musicianship. We are now ready to take over the stage once again! Want to book us on a gig? Get in touch!

Vanishing Orderia on tullut pyöritettyä nyt muutamia kertoja. Kova lätty, joka nosti entisestään odotuksia tulevaa levyä kohtaan. Perished in Torment -biisin kertsissä ei vaan tahdo pitää pokka, sillä jotenkin kuulen aina akuankkamaiset kwaak kwaak -äänet niistä die die, why why -huudoista. Biisit ovat tasaisen vahvoja, enkä oikein osaa laittaa niitä paremmuusjärkkään. Tämän hetken fiiliksellä The Abyss Within kolahtaa koviten.

P.S. On muuten hyvin selkeitä Death-vaikutteita The Abyss Withinin riffeissä.

Settilistaa;

1. Obscene Desecrator
2. Thrash the Place
3. The Solitarium
4. Mind Compressor*
5. Legions of Evil
6. The Abyss Within
7. Thrown Down the Well*
8. Burnt to Ashes*
9. Hate is All you Need
10. A.T.D.B.T.S

Jotenkin noin

"
Witheria’s ‘Devastating Return’ is a bit of an interesting and perplexing album. It is marked as a Finnish thrash album, which it is certainly is in many ways but as the album plays on the guitar players in the band have, what I feel, is a unique talent in how they mix in their riffs, melodies and arrange their songs. What starts out as a straightforward thrash album turns out by the end to offer a very interesting listening experience.

As stated ‘Devastating Return’ begins as a riff heavy, brutal thrash album along the lines of say bands like Sodom or Toxic Holocaust. The first stand out attribute you will notice is the razor cutting vocals of Tuberculosis which fits in nicely for an extreme thrash metal band. However after the first four or so songs are done it almost seems the music takes on another life and shifts from harsh thrash metal riffs to showcasing some very impressive and unique guitar work from guitarists Markus and Lappis.

You will be treated to some very sophisticated guitar work and harmonies that sound really clean for a thrash band but also what struck me was just how the players arranged their leads and riffs in those latter songs that really hooked me as a listener and as a result it almost made me wish the singer had a different style while singing these songs. That isn’t to say the singer is bad for the style the band starts out with but the shift in the song structures and style almost made it sound as if he didn’t fit in with what was being played later in the album but I was so mesmerized by the way the songs were musically composed I can almost let it go. ‘Toxic and Aggressive Growth’ is a great example of showing the great talents of this band.

What at first I thought was going to be a good but standard extreme thrash band and album turned out to be something truly different for me thanks to the talented uniqueness of the musicians in the band. This made ‘Devastating Return’ one of the better surprises I have listened to in some time.

Kreikassa näemmä rässätään;
"Just Thrash 'Em All"

You know thrash;! Hey kid, you know from thrash;!;!
Ok if you do not know put Witheria hear and learn!

Things are just as regards the fourth of Finns work entitled "Devastating Return", since those who like bands like Kreator, Sodom, the eight tracks on the album will just make them suffer neck!
Unhealthy, strong and savage thrash metal, with very good melodies and .. I said "simple"?!

Yes definitely Witheria know exactly what they want from themselves and certainly succeeded with the above in this job, but the "Devastating Return" belongs to me in the small category of progressive thrash releases!
In short there are tracks in the album, which, beyond the technical rut is particularly, but without becoming sophisticated in order to demonstrate the knowledge of music!

Example of the "Raft Of Desolation", "Thrown Down The Well", are great tracks that combine the right playing with thrash klotsompounidia! Just!
Highlight and key track of the disc, or what we would say to our friend who has not heard the album: "on where you start to listen the disc mate, put the" Toxic And Aggressive Growth "happen to you to your fun!
Truly the best and most "catchy" songs I've ever heard! Definitely a breakthrough piece for Witheria!! Perfect rhythm and melody!

The vocals just perfect Tuberculosis (referred to in kind) and all fresh produce, whether the 80's exofyllaki initially make you believe otherwise!

In conclusion the "Devastating Return" is a very good job every thrasher should hear as well and is an indicator of how to play or what is right and decent metal!!

"Toxic and aggressive growth " tuntuu tulevan esille koko ajan.

WITHERIA
Devastating Return
(Violent Journey Records)
41:57min
Finnish Thrashers WITHERIA have existed since 2000 (2000-2001 under the FALLOUT moniker though), slowly building up the band's profile as a noteworthy and potential Finnish Metal act that could well become even something bigger one day if just a couple of stars in the nightsky turned a bit more favorable position for them. "Devastating Return" is clearly the band's most solid album to this very date; the band's sound is more refined and more mature than ever, and an increased amount of progressive elements cannot be left unnoticed either. WITHERIA perform the modern kind of, strongly progressive-tinged Thrash Metal, fusing some tiny elements from Death Metal into wholeness - and mainly vocal wise though. In fact, vocalist Tuberculosis somehow manages to sound like Chuck Schuldiner (R.I.P.) on DEATH's last album "The Sound Of Perseverance", using his screeching and dry vocals nicely and even cleverly here and there. That, added with similar progressive elements that DEATH exploited a lot and so successfully on the band's last album, make "Devastating Return" literally pretty much worth the album title; this is actually a devastating return from the WITHERIA camp back to some bright limelight again. 'Some Wounds Will Not Heal' is just one fine example of these guys' true abilities to compose some infectious material that is meant to stick in your brain like a sticky gum in your hair. Another fine example of WITHERIA's undisputed skills as professional songwriters comes in a form of song called 'Thrown Down The Well', in which WITHERIA show how to make an easy musical transition from pure straightforwardness and ass-kicking into some all horizons painting atmospheres, without sounding forced a bit but ending up sounding natural while doing so. Looking back, WITHERIA release a new album every 3rd year. The period 2011-2014 has been the most fruitful one for them yet regarding how big leaps they have taken as a tightly playing combo. Feel free to recommend this album and band for your close friends, relatives, enemies, or whatever really. WITHERIA have grown quite big balls on "Devastating Return", and that's the fact. Got interested perhaps? Well, cool then because more 'bout these WITHERIA lads can always be found at: http://www.facebook.com/witheria, label: http://www.violentjourneyrecords.com

Finnish thrash metal veterans Witheria return with their fourth album Devastating Return on Violent Journey Records. Nothing really new happening here, but you have to give these guys plenty of credit for consistently coming up with catchy, neck snapping thrash that may not change the world, but still provides many moments of metal enjoyment. Led by the gravelly vocals of the hilariously named Tuberculosis, Witheria tear through barn burners like "Mind Compressor", "Burnt to Ashes", "Raft of Desolation", and "Some Wounds Will Not Heal", each one packed with plenty of speedy, crunchy riffing, blazing solos, and tight rhythms. Sure, "Thrown Down the Well" and "Toxic And Aggressive Growth" have a fairly generic quality to them, and I'd love to see Mr. Tuberculosis add some variety to his delivery, but much of this album is a thrashy good time, and you have to appreciate them adding some proggy elements to the lengthy closer "Back On Earth". Solid stuff all around.

Old school Thrash has been given a new dimension in recent years with so many bands embracing the genre that I feel that it might be the only kind of music that will still be played even in post-Apocalyptic era by aliens and zombies, considering the lyrical themes these bands end up with!! Hahaha!! Consider WITHERIA, originating from Finland, blasting their 4th full length album here with “Devastating Return”, goes with the tried and tested ways of riff based Thrash Metal and still sounds fresh.

While the album starts off with fast paced thick riffs with little or no innovativeness, as the album progresses the riffage gets better and axemen Markus Taipale and Lappis are found bringing in new and innovative riffs to the table all the way through. Surprisingly there are wonderful short drum solos as well by Rob Diver behind the drum kit, and not to mention the fast paced drum beats that fills the album all the way through. Without trying to be the fastest band on the planet, WITHERIA brings in innovative catchy riffs and not to mention some exquisite solos like in “Burnt to Ashes”. The bass of Max Pekkonen does pop out every now and then, but does manage to succeed in making the album sound heavier and much better as a whole. Tuberculosis seem to scream the hell out of his vocal chords and occasionally bringing in growling vocals in every song. Though the vocals are reminiscent of few other Thrash bands like SODOM, which bring in similar vocals, it’s the timing and not over doing it, is what really works for these boys. I was quite surprised to hear duel vocals together in “Some Wounds Will Not Heal”, but the band does no mistake in executing it right! Surprisingly there is some chaotic music in “Thrown Down the Well”, of which all of it isn’t impressive, but then again the band moves into its original riff based Thrashing which works just fine. The band finishes of the album with “Back on Earth”, trying to over experiment/innovate here with a 9:38 min song and the song itself being not as good as the band intended it to be and in my opinion losing the momentum and impact created by the album till then, and is probably the only major disappointment in ‘Devastating Return’.

The production is quite impressive as the band hasn’t tried to over polish the album and has a light raw feeling to it and lyrically speaks about weapons and armoury created by man and the problems it has caused to the human mankind at large. WITHERIA seems to show a lot of maturity with this album and this album has all the ingredients to make it to some Top 10 lists at the end of the year and is an album you don’t want to miss if you are an ardent Thrash Metal fan like I am.

The Thrash Metal band WITHERIA founded in 2000 under the name FALLOUT in Espoo, Finland . After only a self-produced demo from the year 2001, however, they tried to present name . Also from Espoo comes a certain Alexi Laiho guitar wizard and screamer at perhaps the Finnish extreme metal export at all, CHILDREN OF BODOM . In addition to the origin , there are also a few musical parallels between the two bands. Similar to the guys from the lake Bodominjärvi also be seen on WITHERIA repeatedly on Isolated Black Metal bonds. Otherwise , however, the effects are much deeper rooted than in Thrash Heavy Metal

With " Devastating Return" is these days to the fourth professionally produced work of the combo. Eight songs contains the disk, but overall , however, on a very regular playing time, which may be due mainly to the often somewhat progressive flip side ( " Passenger Of Thought "). Almost all the songs are longer than five minutes.

The band maintains a very traditional form of thrash metal , but it just creates to generate interest by the more progressive alignment. A song like "Burnt To Ashes " convinces with a high proportion of melody and tasteful solos , while " Raft Of Desolation " in the intro almost a bit reminiscent of DEATH . Particularly noteworthy are mainly the warm bass lines , else to hear something like this at most a band like OBSCURA .

Even if WITHERIA act at any time on a quite so high technical level , they bring with this approach but a key USP that is needed if you want to stick out from the bottom of the old school thrash bands anyway. Convince even when things get simpler going forward WITHERIA by strong riffs ( "Some Wounds Will Not Heal " ) and a contemporary sound reminiscent in songs like " Thrown Down The Well" to LAMB OF GOD .

After the countrymen LOST SOCIETY have been strongly presented this year with " terror Hungry" , WITHERIA hew out of Finland with " Devastating Return" at least equal rank , progressive and melodic thrash out board . Despite traditionally earthy style the band is based throughout the decisive accents to deliver an interesting album as a whole. The progressive slots offer variety , never go there but at the expense of relatively high catchiness .

Ydinkysymys: Mitä tehdä kun thrash metalin rajat alkavat tulla vastaan?

Neljännen pitkäsoittonsa julkaiseva kotimainen Witheria on ajanut itsensä tavallaan aika vaikeaan nurkaan. Kaikesta kuulee, että jätkillä olisi saumaa soittaa lähes mitä tahansa. Laulaja Tuberculosis on varmasti yksi omaleimaisimpia, riipivimpiä ja monipuolisempia rähjääjiä mitä äärimetallissa nykyään voi kuulla. Kielisoittajat tikkaavaat melodiaa, sooloa ja tiukkaa riffiä siihen malliin, että hiki tulee pelkästä kuuntelusta. Rumputaiteilija Rob Diver tykittää hänkin varsin napakalla otteella ja esimerkiksi Throw Down The Well on sujuvuudessaan aivan maagista kuultavaa.

Pehmeämpää ilmaisua karsastaville Witheria on kuitenkin yhä omiaan. Devastating Return jatkaa melko pitkälti Vanishing Orderin (2011) terävästi ryöpyttävillä linjoilla. Veitsenterävästi riffittelevät kappaleet ovat usein nopeita ja raivokkaita pyyhkäisyjä, joista hyvänä esimerkkinä käy heti levyn avaava ja tarttuvalla huutokertsillä varustettu Mind Compressor. Toisaalta mukana on tietysti myös hivenen kulmikkaampiakin raitoja, kuten komeasti sooloileva Burnt To Ashes. Levyn päättävä kymmenminuuttinen, varsin hitaasti vyöryttävä ja paikoin peräti tunnelmalliseksi heittäytyvä Back On Earth jatkaa bändin eeppisempien päätösraitojen sarjaa.

bout five or six years began to be said that the thrash had been reborn. Thrash bands that survived the 90s, the vast majority had abandoned the style in favor of accelerated heavy , hardcore and similar styles , but new bands picked up the hard-nosed thrash . That initial thrash sometimes mingled with the speed metal .

Witheria is one of those bands . They have returned with their fourth album , Devastating return 41 minutes and eight heirs songs Peace Sells Megadeth, the Doomsday for the Deceiver by Flotsam and Jetsam and other jewelry of the era, with a magnificent performance by vocalist who has Tuberculosis as the nickname . And when you think Tuberculosis should be to die and can not breathe , it is the opposite.

While " compressor Mind " is a song directly , with the rest of the album, and is a good introduction to what you will hear , is to " Passenger of Thought " with the band into its own . Tuberculosis sings like Schuldiner at times, while another loose some otherworldly shrieks reminiscent of those acute vocalists late 80s .

Technical elements appear here and there , without fanfare, almost hidden , but in " Burnt to Ashes" are guitarists Markus Taipale and Lappis which stand at times recalling also those guitarfish complexities of Death . Begin to mix in elements of death metal songs . The guitar solo is spectacular, fast fingering and also using some tremolo .

" Raft of Desolation " is a song that reminds us of Flotsam and Jetsam from your first chords , rhythm and a insistent voice tending to sharp. Tuberculosis seems almost impossible to sing in such a broad record (go , who you liked the moniker )

Max Pekkonen also has its moments of prominence , supported by Rob Diver, not only in times of continuous rate and double bass , but in the details and moments of silence and "Some Wounds Will Not Heal" title chord thrash with philosophy, continue with " Thrown Down the Well " repeating direct insistent rhythm to your neck , moving to "Toxic and Aggressive Growth" whose riff is typical of the late 80's and the San Francisco Bay Area. Here again Markus Taipale and Lappis performed an impressive job of technical riffs worthy of note . For the first time use a question-answer letter .

The album ends with a very extensive "Back on Earth" , riff heavy metalhead that at times will bring to mind the "Holy Diver" to switch to a type riff Death with setbacks , syncopations and a return of Tuberculosis style torn reminiscent to Schuldiner . Broader , more complex and more interesting song .

A magnificent band of those that you rub on your face quality Nordic metal.

Kuulostaa kyllä tosi hyvältä levy. Toista kertaa putkeen kuuntelussa nyt. Viimenen biisi on melkonen. :D

Kaaoszine ei arvosta meidän musiikillista näkemystä.
Neljättä levyään ulos pukkaava Witheria kehuu musiikkinsa olevan progressiivisia elementtejä sisältävää thrash metallia. ”Devastating Return” -nimeä kantavaa lättyä on kuulemma työstetty hyvin pitkään, joten levy ansaitsee arvostelun myös Kaaoszinen toimesta.

Witherian nimi on varmasti monille tuttu, sillä bändillä on useampikin julkaisu vyönsä alla.
