Tänään tuli pyöräytettyä tämä uusin läpi, eikä ekasta kuuntelusta jäänyt käsiin mitään. Missä ovat mahtipontiset superkertsit?!?! Tää nyt oli melkoista tissien läpsyttelyä, ei taida bändi päästä enää Power of the Dragonflamen tasolle. Siitä lähtien silkkaa alamäkeä, mitä nyt Triumph or Agony hienokseltaan nosti laskukäyrää.

Johan tämän(kin) julkaisusta ehti vierähtää pieni tovi, mutta Reign Of Terror on tosiaan uuden albumin paras lenkki & huomattavasti edellä rosommassa tyylissä (kenties lähimpänä tuota discografiassaan olevaa) When Demons Awakea.

Muutenkin tämä The Frozen Tears Of Angels yllätti todella positiivisesti kahden edellisen ähkymmän paisuttelun (jolla toki niilläkin parit hitit per levy + eeppisen* rallin upeat pätkät) jälkeen. Kitaravetoinen, rivakka ja virtaviivaisempi = aivan kuten oma varhaisempi suosikkini Dawn Of Victory (2000). Ja jos & KUN tämä menee tällä hetkellä jaetulle 2./3. sijalle (sijoille) Power Of The Dragonflamen kanssa, niin ei voi olla kuin tyytyväinen.
Ei oikeastaan yhtään huonoa biisiä, turha instrumentaalikin (vrt. Trolls In The Dark) on bonarina nyt. 9 kappaletta piisaa oikein hyvin. Crystal Moonlight, On The Way To Ainor, Lost In Cold Dreams & Raging Starfire muut favoriitit.

Ehkä siellä minua huomattavasti kovemmat R-fanit tuumaavat että tällaista yksinkertaistetumpaa tekee moni muukin, ja Rhapsodyn pitäisi olla omaleimaisempaa?

RHAPSODY OF FIRE to release an epic 35-minute symphony


RHAPSODY OF FIRE are going to release an epic monument called "The Cold Embrace Of Fear – A Dark Romantic Symphony".

„For this special CD we composed a unique song of around 35 minutes divided in 7 „acts“. Looking at the title you can easily imagine that such long and epic song will show the most cinematic and orchestral side of our band, all our passion for the world of cinema we love so much and that always represented our main influence while composing the RHAPSODY’s music“, says Luca Turilli and adds: „Essentially it is a long huge song, sounding very symphonic, full of orchestral sections very soundtrack oriented, narrations and spoken parts. More than in other cases we tried to create a real movie atmosphere with very dynamic musical results, also thanks to the help of the English actors that gave voice to different charachters. You will just need to close your eyes and explore those new emotional dimensions we wrote the music for.“
The lyrics of this monumental, epic symphony is based on the „dark secret saga“ and represents a new chapter, directly connected with „The Frozen Tears Of Angels“.

Luca explains: „After the long journey to the icy frozen northlands at the borders of the known world, while facing concrete natural obstacles and the inner demons lying in the depths of their conscience, the five main charachters reach the ancient gothic fortress of Har-Kuun, a real monument of evil trapped between ice and snow, the mystic place where the Erian’s book could be finally found. „The Cold Embrace Of Fear“ tells about the entrance of those bravehearts in the ancestral world of Har-Kuun and the dramatic search for the holy book of the angels, only possible way to understand something more about the dark secret threatening the whole known world. Also in this case I liked to create particular „bridges“ connecting the new chapter of the saga with our modern life on the basis of symbolism, ancient wisdom and spiritual evolution. To someone who knows something about modern psychology and the study of the different „self“, the hidden geometries and gothic labyrinths of Har-Kuun will reveal themselves very clearly.“

Once again Christopher Lee was chosen for the spoken parts as a main narrator. „We couldn’t imagine to release something like this without his fundamental partecipation. Sir Lee is one member of the RHAPSODY OF FIRE‘s family since a lot of time and we love him not only as an actor but also as man. Because of his great and majestic personality he has surely the aura of a king of the ancient times.

“From Chaos To Eternity” is the title of the new RHAPSODY OF FIRE’s full length album, that will be released in Spring 2011 through Nuclear Blast at a worldwide level. The 10th studio album of the Italian power metal act will be a new musical masterpiece. Described by the band as the natural evolution of the monumental chartbreaker of 2010 “The Frozen Tears Of Angels”, the new album will represent an important goal in the history of RHAPSODY OF FIRE, as it will be the last one based in the fantasy saga started in 1997 with the debut album “Legendary Tales”.

As usual Luca Turilli and Alex Staropoli will be the producers of the new work. But for the first time, part of such a production (vocals and guitar recordings) was and will be mostly based in Trieste, the Italian hometown of the two founders. The recordings of bass and drums already took place in Wolfsburg at “The Gate Studio” under the wise supervision of their longtime friend Sascha Paeth (AVANTASIA, ANGRA and more).

Luca says: “We are really proud to reveal to the whole world that the production of our new full length album is at a very good point already. Lyrically it has a particular meaning for all of us, as with the 5th and final chapter of the “Dark Secret saga” our band will close its fantasy cycle started 13 years ago. The dark secret will finally reveal itself and for the last time Sir Christopher Lee will give his unique and fundamental contribution to our work. Musically expect something really special out of the ten album titles. A song like “Ghosts Of Forgotten Worlds” with its rageous and hypnotic guitar riff, will make you breath the dusty atmospheres of the southern ghostlands. “Aeons Of Raging Darkness” is pure melodic chaos translated into music, “Tornado” the greatest technical challenge for each single bandmember and “Tempesta Di Fuoco”, the first speed track completely sung in Italian language. For my song “Fantasia Gotica” I wrote and finalized the cinematic orchestral arrangements inspired by the visionary genius of Tim Burton, while “The Splendour Of Angels’s Glory (A Final Revelation)” is Alex’s choral and majestic track for the perfect finale of the dark secret saga. Our bass player Patrice Guers and our drummer Alex Holzwarth did their best job so far in a RHAPSODY OF FIRE album. One more word is needed to underline the excellent performance of our singer: in this new release, Fabio Lione will present himself definitely as one of the best and most versatile singers, being able to pass with unique ability and talent from the most aggressive vocals, to clean angelic voices and powerful operatic parts. Once more you are going to be really surprised.”

Alex Staropoli adds: “As always the cinematic elements that defined our style will enrich each track, but the guitar work will be again very important too. What is sure is, that for such an album Luca and I composed our best solos ever!”

Tom Hess, the guitar virtuoso well known worldwide for his unique guitar skills and for being the creator of the famous online guitar courses, is now officially a new member of Rhapsody Of Fire!

He recorded most of the rhythmic parts of the new upcoming album “From Chaos To Eternity” and also two guitar solos! Alex says: “I saw Tom Hess playing on stage several times and always got impressed by his great stage presence and his way of playing. Imo RoF lähestyy kokoajan musikaalisesti Symphony X:ää. Uusi biisi on jo paljon aiempaa Rhapsodya raskaampaa ja tekninen osaaminen on viritetty äärimmilleen. Fabio myös vetelee laulujaan ajoittain erittäin brutaalisti. Levy tulee luultavasti olemaan erittäin monipuolinen edellisten levyjen tapaan, ja TFTOA osoitti bändin sävellyskynän olevan terävimmillään sitten POTDF:n. Nytkun bändi on saanut jo pitkästä aikaa kunnon kiertuetta alleen ja aina kaipaamansa toisen kitaristin niin tässä saattaa aika upea teos olla tulossa!

After 15 years of friendship, hard work and big passion, fully invested in the creation of symphonic music and an epic saga that will remain in the history of heavy metal, Alex Staropoli and Luca Turilli decided to proceed to a friendly split.
"10 albums released and the end of the saga represent, musically and lyrically, an important artistic goal finally reached, underlined by the success of our last release "From Chaos To Eternity", for which we want to thank our wonderful fans once again. Now it came the time when new artistic stimulations need to be found, in respect of both parts' visions and perspectives and of our longtime friendship" say Luca and Alex. Due to the latest legal agreements actually in force, Alex Staropoli will go on with RHAPSODY OF FIRE having, between the others, Fabio Lione as singer, Tom Hess as guitar player and Alex Holzwarth as drummer. ^Wtf??? Mikäs hässäkkä noiden nimien käytön kanssa oli silloin alun perin? Olen ollut siinä käsityksessä ettei italiaanoilla ollut oikeutta Rhapsody nimen käyttöön - ja nyt Turilli voikin käyttää sitä?

Aivan ihmeellistä, Holzwarth molempien bändien rumpalina, wtf II?

Olisivat laskeneet vain bändin hautaan, kuten tämän uuden ensi-uutisista olimme uumoilla, saagan päättyessä, jne. Mutta todella oudolta vaikuttaa Onneksi Wacken-lauantain keikka oli pirun hyvä, tiukka ja hyväsoundinen. Ikisuosikki Holy Thunderforce oli mieluisa yllätys, kun eivät kai ole sitä aina viime vuosina enää soittaneet, puuttui Dark Secret -kanadaliveltäkin. Sitten jonkin albumillaan unohtuneen On The Way To Ainorin olikin kiva huomata omaavan todella mallikkaan tuplabasariverset, joiden parissa viihtyi. Dawn Of Victoryn, kuinkas muuten - parhaana levynä, biisit olivat muutenkin kohokohtia, eritoten nimikko. Tuskan keikkakinhan 10 vuotta aiemmin oli niiden tiimoilta, joten toisen helmen, Power Of The Dragonflamen nimikko eritoten olisi ollut mahtava lisä. Mutta hyvin se 1. italiankielinen balladinsakin siltä jylähti aurinkoiseen keskipäivään pelloilla!

Unholy Warcry oli myös ihan mahtavaa, heilua 1L kolpakko kädessä, kun Rollon reissukaveritkin ovat vielä huomattavasti kovempia Rhapsody-faneja niin palttiarallaa kaikki biisit taidettiin kirkua mukana alusta loppuun -hyvät muistot bändin lopusta.

Tuolla on taas semi-"koko" konsertti, Lucan ja tämän salamyhkäisen korvaajansa synkronoidut poseeraukset pätkäkorokkeilla (outron ajan silmät kiinni, kitara taivasta kohti? ) ovat erityisen suositeltavia. Mutta oli tosiaan loistava keikka, katsokaa vaikka, Staropolikin näyttää Dee Snideriltä

Onko toi kakkoskitaristi Holy Hell´stä? Muistaakseni siinä soitti samanlainen Halford kopio samanlaisella rumalla kitaralla. Pari ekaa biisiä menee ainakin bändillä aika käteen, ensin ei edes kuulu Lucan kitara, ja sitten tämä kakkoskitaristi mokaa komeesti Holy Thunderforcessa. Muutenkin bändi soittaa tosi tahmeasti. Ei hyvä alku keikalle, katsellaan kuitenkin loppuun asti.

EDIT: On se sama mies. Ihan kauheeta soittoa tolla videolla, täytyy ihmetellä miehen "kitarajumala" mainetta. Todella epätarkkaa soittoa, ja parit soolotkin ihan päin helvettiä. Eikä jaksa sahata noita nopeita biisejä, vaan vetelee aika paljon sinne päin. Lucan superhyvän soiton takia noi heitot paljastuu aika karkeesti tolla videolla, varsinkin kun Hessin kitara on koko ajan kovemmalla kun Lucan.

German bass player Oliver Holzwarth (brother of Rhapsody Of Fire drummer Alex Holzwarth) has joined the band as an official and permanent member of Rhapsody Of Fire, and will be involved in both live performances and studio recordings.

Oliver is an excellent bass player who has toured with Blind Guardian, Tarja Turunen and Sieges Even and has recorded several studio albums with Blind Guardian.

Alex Staropoli says: "It's a true privilege and honor to have the two Holzwarth brothers playing together in Rhapsody Of Fire. I am sure it will be fantastic to have the best rhythmic section on this planet, a unique and true force of nature, on our side. I am really looking forward to hearing them shaking the stages around the world on our upcoming world tour."

Missäs ne kaikissa soittivat jo aiemminkin yhdessä, Sieges Evenissä progea ja Paradoxin 2000 comebackillä (sekä nyttemmin, tästä vuodesta eteenpäin taas) rässiä/speediä. “We tried it but we understood in a short time that it would have been really impossible to have our friend and drummer ALEX HOLZWARTH playing for both RHAPSODY and RHAPSODY OF FIRE. In these conditions there was simply no way to go on and right now, having two tour agencies working for us and starting the planning of the live activity, we agreed that the best is to keep the two bands completely independent from each other. That’s why some time ago we found the only possible solution. Alex Holzwarth will go on playing for RHAPSODY OF FIRE and this makes sense because also his brother is playing in that band too. From our side, after thanking Alex for all the wonderful moments shared together and to have recorded the new album showing once more all his great technical skill, we started looking around trying to find a special person that could have taken his important place. Well, we can tell you that we found that person and it is surely special, very special… honestly one of the best drummers around we had the chance to listen to.

Therefore we are really proud to announce that the new drummer and permanent band member of RHAPSODY will be Mr. ALEX LANDENBURG. We are honored to have Alex with us, we admire his unique talent and we are sure we will have a lot of fun together, in the years to come, on the stages of the whole world!”

Mutta sepä jäänee nähtäväksi (kuultavaksi), miten saavat koukukkaita biisejä tehtyä ilman Turilasta. Se tuntuma on jäänyt, että Staropoli vastasi aina tästä paisutus-maalailu-töttöröö -osastosta. Eivät ne Legend Of Steelin tai Rider Of The Astral Firen kertsit ole liian helppoja tehdä
