Paha juttu... Olen jo sen ikäinen heppu tajutakseni, että nuoruudesta asti elämäni sankareina olleet starat vanhenee ja tällästä uutista tulee väkisinkin. Ronnien kohdalla tämä tragedia on kuitenkin erityisen vaikea, koska (itseäni lainatakseni) hänhän on iätön ja ikuinen niinkuin Jumalan kerrotaan olevan. Long Live Ronnie James Dio-Kill that dragon!

just wanted to say thanks for the encouraging messages and well wishes. Ill make sure to forward them all to Ronnie.
Sorry I havent been on but didnt really know what to say. It was something that needed to come from Wendy first.

We had rehearsals for the tour right up to the last day before we were schedualled to leave. Then after the last one, we got the news.
Ronnie was there everyday and was in top vocal form as always. But he was having substantial pain in his stomach.

Ive spoken to Ronnie a few times this week and he sounded very upbeat concidering the diagnosis. Very positive and clear about what he needs to do.
Obviously Cancer of any kind, is a really serious/scarry condition. But Ronnie has always been and extrordinary person and I have total believe that he will beat
this and have a successful outcome.

Thanks very much for your support everyone. You guys are very thoughtful and thats gonna help Ronnie.
Ill let you know once I hear anymore news.

When asked if he has been in contact with Ronnie James Dio since it was announced that the legendary HEAVEN & HELL/BLACK SABBATH/RAINBOW singer was diagnosed with stomach cancer, Rob replied, "I've been in touch with Wendy [Ronnie's wife/manager]. In fact, I got an-email back from Wendy today. As I understand it, Wendy and Ronnie are traveling tomorrow to start treatment."

He added, "What can you say?! Life is precious. Ronnie has dedicated his entire life to metal. He is a world-famous metal singer and he is a dear friend of mine and I love him a lot and I'm very hopeful, because he is being treated by some of the top people. And I'm sure that he will get fit and he will get well and be back out to the metal stages of the world as soon as he possibly can. So he is in my thoughts and my prayers — not only for myself but i think for millions of his fans all around the world. He is a wonderful man. I can't wait for him to get well and be back out there singing his heart out."

Ei kannata vielä höntyillä, nuo keikat on todennäköisesti myyty jo silloin kun Ronnien syövästä ei ollut edes tietoa vielä. Tuon kokoluokan tapahtumat bookkaavat artisteja jo vuodenkin etukäteen, joten varmaa on ainoastaan se, että keikkaa ei lineupin julkaisupäivään mennessä ole peruttu.

Legendary heavy metal singer Ronnie James Dio (DIO, HEAVEN & HELL, BLACK SABBATH, RAINBOW) was diagnosed with the early stages of stomach cancer and is currently receiving treatment at the Mayo Clinic. His wife/manager Wendy Dio has issued the following update on Ronnie's condition:

"Well, it has been a very exhausting month. After all the never-ending tests in Los Angeles, we flew to the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota, and as soon as we arrived, we got a call from the MD Anderson Hospital that they had an appointment for us with the doctor we originally wanted, so we then flew to Houston to the clinic, and, of course, MORE tests, but Ronnie finished receiving his first chemo treatment on Wednesday, and all is going very well.

"I would like to thank Tony Martell from the T.J. Martell Foundation, Dr. Stuart Aaronson from Mount Sinai, Lindsay Brown and Mike Carden from Eagle Records, and our very own Dr. Sandeep Kapoor, for all your help in getting us into MD Anderson, and also our friends Geezer and Gloria Butler, who flew to Houston to be with Ronnie while he had his chemo.

"Ronnie and I are totally overwhelmed by the amount of well wishes that we have received from friends and fans — we are reading them all. Some make us laugh, some make us cry, but all of them are so filled with love that it gives us so much support and makes Ronnie even more determined to fight this battle and win.

"Thank you all for the positive energy and prayers."

1/25/10: Just back from a quick trip to Los Angeles. Spent some time interviewing Ronnie James Dio, Vinnie Appice and Geezer Butler for an upcoming project they are working on. It was great to see all the guys. Ronnie looked great! Even though he is in the middle of chemo he seemed completely himself and looked healthy. He still has some treatments ahead of him but was in great spirits and no doubt looking forward to getting back on stage with H&H. Took a photo with him I will post soon so you guys can see first hand how well he is looking. Keep RJD in your thoughts and prayers as he continues his battle. The great vibes from his millions of fans are helping for sure. Vinnie's shoulder is getting better after surgery and he is going through therapy now. Should have full range in a few months. Geezer was typical Geezer and is the only H&H guy that is 100%it seems, although he said Tony's hand is doing well. Didn't see Tony as he was in the UK. Great to see all the guys and look forward to a new album and tour later in the year
