This Is It -filmi tulee viikon päästä, niin tottakai se tulee leffassa katsastettua. Varmasti todella haikea, kun tajuaa kuinka suuri lahjakkuus on kuollut. Suuri showmies, indeed.

Mercyful Mika wrote:

Re: The King Of Pop: Michael Jackson
Olihan se This Is It ihan katsomisen arvoinen.

Re: The King Of Pop: Michael Jackson
Fender wrote:Olihan se This Is It ihan katsomisen arvoinen. No niin nyt kaikki vähääkään Michaelista kiinnostuneet kipin kapin This is it dvd/bluray ostoksille!

Re: The King Of Pop: Michael Jackson

Alta löytyy tuo Lanny Kravitz haastattelu pätkä* It looks as if the new album is a go. The estate has given it's blessings.
* Expect to see a press release go out in April or May (I was told May is more likely).
* The release date is now set for late August to coincide with MJ's 52nd birthday.
* Sony wants the first single out by June 25th to capitalize on the huge press for the 1 year anniversary of his death.
* The label has been working with producers including; Akon, Rodney Jerkins, Teddy Riley, R Kelly, and taking songs MJ wrote solely. They are also trying to contact Will.i.am to work out something regarding the music he and MJ did together. However, he appears uninterested at the time in releasing it; my contact remains confident Sony can persuade him.

Kyllähän levy-yhtiö aina keksii keinot miten voidaan maksimoida rahastus.
Etenkin kun artisti itse on jo kuollut.

Michael Jacksonille maailman suurin levydiili
Poplaulaja Michael Jacksonin perikunta on tehnyt musiikkihistorian kaikkien aikojen suurimman levytyssopimuksen.
Popin kuningas kuoli kotonaan viime vuoden kesäkuussa.

Michael Jackson’s Estate Signs Sweeping Contract
Nine months after Michael Jackson’s death, his estate has signed one of the biggest recording contracts in history, giving Sony, Mr. Jackson’s longtime label, the rights to sell his back catalog and draw on a large vault of unheard recordings.
The deal, for about 10 recordings through 2017, will guarantee the Jackson estate up to $250 million in advances and other payments and offer an especially high royalty rate for sales both inside and outside the United States, according to people with knowledge of the contract who spoke anonymously because they were not authorized to speak about it publicly.
It also allows Sony and the estate to collaborate on a wide range of lucrative licensing arrangements, like the use of Jackson music for films, television and stage shows and lines of memorabilia that will be limited only by the imagination of the estate and the demand of a hungry worldwide market.
“We think that recordings will always be an important part of the estate,” John Branca, an entertainment lawyer who is one of the estate’s executors, said in an interview on Monday. “New generations of kids are discovering Michael.”
“A lot of the people that went to see ‘This Is It’ were families,” he added, referring to the Jackson concert film released in October. “ ‘This Is It’ was one of the few films allowed into China. So we think there are growing and untapped markets for Michael’s music.”
The first recording covered by the new contract is the “This Is It” soundtrack, released last year, and Sony plans a new album of unreleased recordings for November.
Sony’s contract is a bet on the continued appeal of Mr. Jackson, whose sales spiked after his death in June at the age of 50. With overall record sales on a decade-long plunge, mega-deals like this one have become rare, and Mr. Branca said the deal “exceeds all previous industry benchmarks.” Five years ago Bruce Springsteen signed a deal with Sony worth a reported $110 million, and in 2008 Live Nation and Jay-Z struck a $150 million deal for recordings, concert tours and other rights.
Demand for Jackson music has leveled off after the initial rush — in the weeks after his death Sony scrambled to replenish retailers’ stock of any and all Jackson titles — but remains high. Last year Mr. Jackson was the biggest-selling artist in the United States by a wide margin, with 8.3 million combined album sales and 12.4 million downloads of single tracks, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Mr. Branca said that since his death Mr. Jackson has sold more than 31 million albums, about two-thirds of them outside the United States.
But as record sales have tapered off over the last decade, licensing has emerged as the biggest growth area for revenue from recorded music. And given the success of the Beatles and the Elvis Presley estate in reissuing and repackaging old albums as well as finding new uses for their music — like “Love,” the Beatles’ hit theatrical show by Cirque du Soleil — it is not hard to imagine the direction that the Jackson estate might take in using old recordings in new ways.
“It’s not just a record deal,” said Rob Stringer, chairman of the Columbia/Epic Label Group, a Sony division. “We’re not just basing this on how many CDs we sell or how many downloads. There are also audio rights for theater, movies, computer games. I don’t know how an audio soundtrack will be used in 2017, but you’ve got to bet on Michael Jackson in any new platform.”

Re: The King Of Pop: Michael Jackson
The track list is going to be finalized next week. I can reveal it is already 98% done and sources are very excited about it. What surprises many people who have heard the album so far is that it actually DOES flow. I am told that the sound is modern, and with most songs being from MJ's final years, the flow is better then most thought. The sound I am told mixes the classic MJ fast songs with some beautiful ballads. There will be more fast songs on this album then Invincible (percentage wise). The Will.i.am material I am told is great stuff and goes head to head with a Jerkins track and Another Day for the albums strongest material. The final mixed version of Another Day is powerful, and should do very well on the charts. The estate is also prepping music videos, mostly will be composed of studio footage and even a possible animation video.
More details will be revealed in the next two weeks, to coincide with MJ's birthday. Don't expect all the songs to be revealed right away though as there is still 3 months until the release. Album launch date I am told will be the week of Nov 15th with tentative backup release dates for Nov 7th or 22nd depending on competition from other artists. Prepare yourselves, the fun is about to begin...
New Michael Jackson Album In November
Disc includes 10 previously unreleased tracks
An all-new Michael Jackson collection featuring 10 unreleased songs will be released this November, a rep for the Jackson estate exclusively tells Rolling Stone. At the time of his death Jackson reportedly left hard drives filled with unheard music, much of it recorded during the King of Pop's '80s peak. Jackson's manager Frank DiLeo told RS that he estimates that Jackson's vaults contain more than 100 completed and unreleased songs, including collaborations with Akon, Will.i.am and Ne-Yo. "There are a couple of songs we recorded for the Bad album that we had to cut that are just sensational," DiLeo said.
"Every time that [Jackson] recorded, he over-recorded. He would record anywhere from 20 to 30 songs for each album," former Sony Music CEO Tommy Mottola told RS last year. Any of them could have been as big a hit as the ones that came out." One of the most noteworthy tracks was a Thriller outtake titled "Don't Be Messin' Around." Other candidates include any of the reported five songs that Jackson recorded with Will.i.am.
Last year, a pair of unreleased Jackson tracks, "Another Day" and "A Place With No Name," leaked, and recently Rodney Jerkins, who co-produced Jackson's 2001 album Invincible, revealed to VladTV that he's currently working on the collection.
As Rolling Stone previously reported, the album of never-before-heard Jackson songs will be the first in a 10-project, seven-year deal the Jackson estate inked with Sony Music in March 2010 — a $250 million pact that will also include reissues of Jackson's classic albums, new greatest hits sets, a DVD collection of all Michael's music videos and possibly a Cirque du Soleil show. The hybrid karaoke and dance simulator Michael Jackson: The Video Game is also expected out by the end of 2010.
Erittäin suurella mielenkiinnolla odotellaan ainakin tällä suunnalla, millaista materiaalia on luvassa. Edellisestä levystähän rupeaa olemaan se 9 vuotta jo.

Re: The King Of Pop: Michael Jackson
Ihan mielenkiintonen juttu juu, tuleehan tuo tsekattua. Muistaakseni tuo another day oli pirun kova veto jo demoversiona, joten eiköhän siitä listojen kärkisinkku saada.

Piakoin kauppoihin ilmestyy seuraavanlainen julkaisu Michael Jacksonilta.
'Michael Jackson's Vision' DVD Boxed Set Available Everywhere Monday November 22
EPIC/LEGACY RECORDINGS TO RELEASE "MICHAEL JACKSON'S VISION," THE FIRST-EVER COMPLETE COLLECTION OF ALL THE SHORT FILMS PRODUCED BY MICHAEL JACKSON
Deluxe Boxed Set Features 4 1/2 Hours of Content Across Three DVDs Showcasing
More Than 40 Videos In Newly Restored Color and Remastered Audio
"Michael Jackson's Vision" Available Everywhere Monday, November 22
Michael Jackson's Vision
In collaboration with the Estate of Michael Jackson, Epic/Legacy Recordings is releasing Michael Jackson's Vision on November 22, making available for the first time ever the entire library of short films produced by Michael Jackson during his career as a solo artist.
Packaged as a deluxe boxed set, Michael Jackson's Vision contains more than four-and-one-half hours of content across three DVDs, capturing the entire spectrum of Michael’s pioneering short films that transformed the entertainment industry with timeless, pop culture classics that today’s youth embrace with as much passion as their parents did a generation earlier.
Michael Jackson's Vision brings together more than 40 videos, ten of them previously unavailable on DVD and each presented in newly restored color and remastered audio. And this release marks the debut of the short film for the R. Kelly-penned "One More Chance."
The simultaneous emergence of MTV as a television force and Michael Jackson’s breakout as a global superstar provided the most epochal musical/cultural shift since the Beatles. Seizing the potential of MTV's 24-hour reach, Michael Jackson produced and starred in a series of what would become iconic short musical films that redefined and established the perimeters, and parameters, of an entire new medium.
Jackson's short-form zombie dance party masterpiece, "Thriller," famously directed by John Landis, remains a cultural phenomenon. It recently became the first (and only) music video to be inducted by the Library of Congress into the National Film Registry, an elite collection of only a few hundred films.
Michael Jackson's Vision includes the full-length versions of the John Landis-directed "Thriller" and “Black or White” as well as the classic “Bad” directed by Academy Award ®-winning filmmaker Martin Scorsese. Also included in the boxed set are Michael’s collaborations with such other noted film directors as John Singleton, Spike Lee and David Fincher as well as “Ghosts,” his rarely-seen collaboration with special effects legend Stan Winston.
Michael Jackson's Vision will be available in a limited edition deluxe boxed set featuring a 60-page glossy hard-bound book that includes behind-the-scenes photos from Michael's personal archives.
The state-of-the-art packaging includes cover art using lenticular virtual imaging technology to vividly represent memorable scenes from Michael Jackson's signature short films.
