Lämminhenkistä juttua Metallicasta ja Saxonista:
Vocalist Biff Byford of British heavy metal legends SAXON offered a brief comment to U.K.'s Metal Hammer magazine regarding his appearance with METALLICA last night (Thursday, April 2) at Palais Omnisport de Bercy in Paris, France to perform the SAXON classic "Motorcycle Man".

According to Biff, he found out he was going to be performing with METALLICA only a short time before the band hit the stage.

"I didn't know until 15 minutes before (they went on)," said Biff. "It was fucking cool though!"

Watch fan-filmed video footage of the performance below.

When METALLICA played Sheffield Arena on February 28, 2009, they invited as VIP guests former SAXON members Graham Oliver and Steve Dawson.

At the Sheffield gig, Graham, 56, met up with METALLICA's James Hetfield, Kirk Hammett and Lars Ulrich — who remain huge fans of SAXON's early-1980s heyday.

"In 1982 SAXON played the Whisky a Go-Go on Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood," Graham explained to SouthYorkshireTimes.co.uk. "It was sold out and Steve and me were asked if we would pick out a support band from a pile of cassettes sent in by young metal bands. METALLICA were far and away the best and even though it was only their second-ever gig; we saw their potential and picked them out to play. We have been friends ever since.

"They have always had a soft spot for us. Over the years they have cited us as a big influence and we are always welcomed at their gigs around the world.

"METALLICA have played Sheffield three times and they always treat us as VIPs.

At Rock Am Ring — Germany's biggest rock festival — they played part of our song 'Princess Of The Night'. I wrote that riff in a council house in Dryden Road. Back then we were just some kids from Mexborough who once had a dream.

"To be supported by the band which became one of the biggest in the world, I think that is pretty special.

"We were sat in the auditorium at Sheffield and they played the old SAXON track 'Heavy Metal Thunder' as their intro track. Kirk Hammett (METALLICA guitarist) told me he loves the solo in that. They played in the round and it was very loud but it was a very pure sound.

"James Hetfield (the singer) is a lovely bloke, but their drummer Lars Ulrich is probably the biggest SAXON fan of them all. He told us that our 1980 album 'Wheels of Steel' is his favorite and said it was a benchmark for them. It is hard for someone of my generation to see that. When I meet someone who played at the Woodstock Festival I am enthusiastic about it — I suppose it is the same for them.

"We were one of the bands to play in the first Donington Festival and METALLICA were a bit in awe and asked us what those days were like".

SLAYER guitarist Kerry King has told U.K.'s Metal Hammer magazine that he has heard through the grapevine that METALLICA drummer Lars Ulrich is plotting a tour that would include METALLICA, MEGADETH, SLAYER and ANTHRAX.

Should this tour materialize, this would be the first time that the so-called "Big Four" of thrash have toured together as part of the same bill. MEGADETH, SLAYER and ANTHRAX were joined by opening act ALICE IN CHAINS for the U.S. Clash Of The Titans tour in 1991, while METALLICA and MEGADETH last shared a U.K. stage at Milton Keynes Bowl in 1993.

In an interview conducted yesterday (Wednesday, September 2) in London, Metal Hammer asked Kerry if there had been a temptation to bring the co-headline tour that SLAYER are about to embark on with MEGADETH in Australia and Canada to U.K. shores.

"I think it would be cool but I knew we had this planned before all of this MEGADETH stuff started happening," said King. "They're going to Australia with us, they're going to Canada again with us. I think it would be cool for the European fans to bring that over here because, shit, we didn't even consider playing with those guys since 1990."

So could it be possible that we could get a tour that includes the "Big Four?"

"I've heard people referencing Lars," said King. "I don't know Lars that well and I haven't heard it from Lars, but apparently he's talking to somebody about it. Maybe us, METALLICA, MEGADETH (and), I think he even threw in ANTHRAX and I said in this day and age, I know we had that time together, but how do you leave out MACHINE HEAD? There's better options than ANTHRAX and that's nothing against ANTHRAX, but they've just been in pieces for quite some time and that doesn't make as much sense to me."
Näinköhän tapahtuisi? :)

No tuo jos mikä on oikeasti neljän ekan levyn huonoin biisi. Ei sellasia tarvi soitella.

Jameshän on kommentoinut Escapen soittamista tähän tyyliin "You want us to play this song? It's on the Ride The Lightning album. Listen from there!"

Escapehan on tehty radiossa soittoa varten ja siitä tuli Metallican 80-luvun paskin biisi.

^ No, soitettiinko sitä paljonkin radiossa?

To Live Is to Die ja Eye of the Beholder olisi kyllä upeaa kuulla joskus livenä, sen verran upeita kappaleita ovat. The Frayed Ends of Sanityn hehkutusta en ymmärrä, onhan sekin ihan hyvä biisi muttei kuitenkaan pärjää Justicen muille biiseille. Ehkä en ole kuunnellut biisiä tarpeeksi, en tiedä sitten.

^Ite ihastuin Kirkin sooloihin kys kappaleessa. Rankkaa kamaa. Muutenkin koko biisi alkoi tuon jälkeen toimimaan paljon paremmin mitä ennen mitänyt sen alun "huu-aa-uh" huutelun olis voinu jättää pois.

^Nohh... Se huuaaauh on se biisin highlightti. Kaikki Metallican 4 levyn biisit on loistavii. Jopa edellä dissattu Escape on ihan jees. En tajua mitä vikaa siinä on paitsi tekohittikertsi.
