^ Oldschool-tyylivirhe!

WARREL DANE announces solo album details; new song & cover artwork posted online!

After much anticipation, the stunning, inaugural solo effort, “Praises To The War Machine”, from Nevermore vocalist WARREL DANE will finally be released in Europe in April 2008. With this effort one of metal’s most defining and revolutionary vocalists further hones his craft to perfection.

Dane, who first shattered the boundaries of conventionality with the legendary Sanctuary and Nevermore, proves that he is one of metal’s most diverse frontmen with this solo effort as he unleashes a barrage of introspective and personal lyrics that are heartfelt and extremely powerful. All of this emotion backed with his soaring angelic and dynamic vocals provides all of the necessary elements for a savagely captivating, melodic assault that quickly hooks you in.

Before beginning this new venture Dane went out and surrounded himself with some of the best musicians that he could find. This search ultimately resulted in landing the renowned Peter Wichers (ex-Soilwork) on guitars and bass, Dirk Verbeuren (Soilwork) on drums and Matt Wicklund (ex-Himsa) on guitars. The effort was also recorded and mixed by Wichers (co-producer Soilwork). As guest musicians Jeff Loomis (Nevermore) and James Murphy (Obituary, Testament, etc.) are featured on the album.

You can now check out the album’s cover artwork by renowned artist Travis Smith (Death, Katatonia, Opeth) by clicking HERE!

The album’s tracklist reads as follows:
1. When We Pray 3:38
2. Messenger 3:59 (feat. Jeff Loomis)
3. Obey 3:59
4. Lucretia My Reflection 4:38 (The Sisters Of Mercy-Cover)
5. Let You Down 3:54
6. August 3:48
7. Your Chosen Misery 4:10
8. The Day The Rats Went To War 3:37 (feat. James Murphy)
9. Brother 3:24
10. Patterns 4:01 (Paul Simon-Cover)
11. This Old Man 3:43
12. Equilibrium 3:54
Total running time: 45:53

As a first sonic appetizer, the song “Messenger” has just been posted at http://www.myspace.com/centurymediaeurope and http://www.myspace.com/warreldane

Dane further comments as to how this solo effort came about:
“Right around the time Nevermore was recording This Godless Endeavour I started talking to Peter Wichers about maybe doing something together. I think we both wanted to do something different and that’s ultimately what got the ball rolling. I had always wanted to work with a songwriter that had a more song based approach rather than focusing on technical skills and Peter was exactly that. We collaborated on almost everything and I wrote all the lyrics and melodies. Peter had great ideas at times for harmonies, that's what a good producer does, and I think he's really come into his own as a producer with this record.

The purpose of doing this project was to step out of the confines of Nevermore and focus on coming up with memorable songs instead of constructing songs that showcased everyone’s skills. The material is more straightforward than Nevermore, but I don't know what to call it. I think my influences have really played a part of the sound. I love old school goth and I love thrash metal, and every other kind of metal, there's a little bit of all of that in the record.”

“Praises To The War Machine” is an absolute must for all Nevermore fans and will soon be hailed as Dane’s most ambitious offering yet. Prepare yourself for the sheer beauty and elegance that awaits. The album will be available on the following release dates:

GERMANY / AUSTRIA / SWITZERLAND / BENELUX / ITALY: April 25, 2008.
UK / FRANCE / GREECE / DENMARK / NORWAY / REST OF EUROPE: April 28, 2008.
SPAIN / PORTUGAL: April 29, 2008.

Parin nsimmäisen kuuntelun perusteella: Vuoden toistaiseksi pahin pettymys.

Blabbermouth wrote:NEVERMORE To Release 'Voyager' DVD In The Fall - Mar. 16, 2008

Seattle metallers NEVERMORE have set "The Year Of The Voyager" as the title of their upcoming DVD, due this fall via Century Media Records. The disc will contain footage of the band's October 11, 2006 concert at the Zeche club in Bochum, Germany.

Check out pictures from the DVD shoot at Metal-Experience.com.

The concert, which was originally slated to take place September 12, 2006 but had to be rescheduled after NEVERMORE vocalist Warrel Dane came down with an infection, featured the following setlist:

01. Final Product
02. My Acid Words
03. What Tomorrow Knows/Garden of Grey
04. Next In Line
05. Enemies of Reality
06. I, Voyager
07. The River Dragon Has Come
08. I Am The Dog
09. Dreaming Neon Black
10. Noumenon
11. Inside Four Walls
12. Politics of Ecstasy
13. Dead Heart In A Dead World
14. Matricide
15. The Learning
16. Sentient 6
17. Narcosynthesis
18. The Heart Collector
19. Born
---------------------
20. This Godless Endeavor

NEVERMORE is currently working on material for the follow-up to 2005's "This Godless Endeavor", tentatively late 2008/early 2009 via Century Media Records.

NEVERMORE last year parted ways with guitarist Steve Smyth due to "personal and business differences."

During Smyth's time away from the touring circuit (Smyth was diagnosed with end-stage kidney failure in 2006 and hadn't toured with the band in over a year), NEVERMORE had been utilizing the services of longtime session guitarist Chris Broderick (JAG PANZER, now in MEGADETH).
Messengerin perusteella kovaa kamaahan sieltä on tunnetusti jälleen tulossa.

Tuplapostaukseksi menee, mutta menkööt tämän kerran:
Blabbermouth wrote:NEVERMORE Guitarist Begins Recording Solo Album - Mar. 26, 2008

NEVERMORE guitarist Jeff Loomis is currently recording his solo album at the famous Robert Lang Studios in Richmond Beach, Washington with Grammy Award-winning producer/engineer Neil Kernon (NEVERMORE, CANNIBAL CORPSE, DEICIDE). They have been in the studio since Saturday, March 22 and have just completed the drum tracks with Mark Arrington (ex-NEVERMORE).

Nevermoren debyyttilevyn uudelleenjulkasun mukana oli ihan kiinnostava pätkä myös tuosta Mark Arringtonista: "Our previous drummer was Mark Arrington, just fucking amazing, that guy. I mean, Van is, I think, one of the best drummers playing metal right now, but Mark was a great drummer as well. The thing about him was, he would come to rehearsals and tell us, 'You guys need to rehearse; I don't.' And he was right! He would go into the studio and track a song, and not even listen to the playback. He would say, 'That's right,' and he'd leave. The guy was a human metronome."

Todellisena fanipoikana piti tietenkin ostaa nuo reissuet, vaikka alkuperäset levyt oli hyllyssä :D Toki noissa on kohtuullisen hyvin tuota bonusmateriaalia. Ainoa huono puoli on se, että Politics of Ecstasyn kansitaiteet on muutettu huomattavasti vähemmän hapokkaiksi  Kaikki hienot kansitaiteet jätetty pois

The CD was recorded at the Robert Lang Studios in Richmond Beach, Washington with Mark Arrington (ex-NEVERMORE) handling the drums. The ambitious offering is "an all-instrumental effort [that] is destined to shed some much deserved spotlight on the genre's most notable, yet unsung, guitar player," according to a press release.

Warrel Danen soololevy tuli äskettäin hankittua ja hyvinhän tuo toimii. Riffit on moninpaikoin mitä on, mutta enpä tuota levyä niiden takia ostanutkaan vaan kuullakseni helvetin hyviä, tunteella vedettyjä vokaaleja, ja siinä mielessä levy ei ole millään tasolla pettymys. Kylmiä väreitä saa kokea monesti levyn aikana. Erityisesti This old man ja Your chosen misery biisien kohdalla. Lucretia My Reflection on taas aivan sairaan hyvä coverveto.

Erinomainen on kyllä Warrel-pojunkin tulkinta. Samaa tosin ei voi sanoa Maryslim feat. Jyrki 69 -poppoolla vedetystä This Corrosion:sta samalta albumilta.
