Tulipa nyt sitten kuunneltua ostamani Best Of Both Worlds-kokoelma. Muistinpa taas miksi en tuosta "humpasta" aikanaan syttynyt...

Muutamat helmet hivelee, mutta "Syna-slovari-love-ballads-osasto" ei juuri nyt hivele hermoja... oma love-elämä on ihan kondiksessa, siitä ei ole kyse. En miä oikeesti diggaa edes syödä karkkeja ja tämä oli just sitä sööttiä karkkikamaa.... Ugh

ja pliis valaiskaa mua parilla esimerkeillä, missä biiseissä Eddie Van Halen osoittaa sen hehkutetun kitarasankarin kykynsä? Tällä kokoelmalla ne skittahurmokset jäi noiden syntikoiden ja Hagarin yliajamaksi.. ei ehkä taidollisesti, mutta jotenkin Eddie ja skitta vaan runnotaan sivummalle.

VAN HALEN TOUR POSTPONED:
Yes, it is 100% true that the Van Halen 2007 tour has been indefinitely postponed. Details are a little thin on the ground and no one is talking on the record, but I did manage to talk to my contact who originally told me of the re-union plans in October last year.
Despite what little has been said publicly so far, it seems there are issues beyond paperwork and contracts that need to be ironed out. Van Halen has always been a volatile mix of personalities and 2007 is no different. Basically those involved in putting this tour together won't commit further until all issues are dealt with, hence the postponement of current plans.
I am told though, that this postponement should be just that - a temporary situation that can be sorted so that the dates that had been arranged can be re-booked and announced down the track somewhat. The band is unlikely to comment beyond the fact the tour will (at this stage) start later than originally planned.
The line-up for this tour remains Eddie, Wofgang & Alex Van Halen and frontman David Lee Roth.

No eihän tuo Eurooppaan olisi kuitenkaan tulleet.

Päh vaikka inhoankin ainaista kaikenvalittamista, niin Sammyn levyjen ollessa ainoat diggailemani (DLR-ajan hittien merkitystä yhtään väheksymättä) bändiltä, niin ko. yhteistyön (tai edes kiertueen..) jatkuminen on viimeisin mielenkiinto bändin nykytekemisiä kohtaan. Mutta aikansa ja onnistumisensa kutakin.

Ei vittu, mitä toimintaa Van Halen-leirissä. Ozzyn porukathan meni vielä pidemmälle soittamalla osan raidoista uusiksi vanhoilta levyiltä, ettei tarvinnut vanhoille bändiläisille antaa rahaa eikä mitään (on se Sharon sitten tosi ihQ!!!), mutta onhan tämäkin nyt ihan järjetöntä perseilyä:

Fans of the Roth lineup have been waiting since the 1984 tour ended for a chance to see the original lineup back on stage, and apparently this is as close as they will ever get to seeing it happen. Of course, that is because this isn't really the original lineup, as Dave, Eddie and Alex will be joined by Eddie's sixteen year old son Wolfgang on bass, replacing arguably the friendliest guy in Rock N' Roll, Michael Anthony, making this the first Van Halen tour to not feature Anthony's trademark background harmonies.

However, this isn't about the decision to replace Anthony with Wolfgang. That story has been written over and over again, and no doubt will be repeated in the future as this tour gets underway. Anthony, after years of staring at the wall while Van Halen did nothing, played a few shows with Sammy Hagar and discovered that he actually enjoyed playing in front of a crowd of screaming fans. So, after the 2004 VH tour ended, Anthony decided he would rather play gigs with Sammy instead of sitting on his rear end waiting for Eddie & Alex to decide when they wanted to play music again. Eddie, using the lame excuse that Anthony & Hagar billed themselves as "The Other Half" as his primary reasoning, revealed that his 16 year old son would be the new bass player in one of the world's most famous rock bands. Sure, music purists and Van Halen fans of both the Roth and Hagar lineups are pretty annoyed about Anthony being replaced by a kid, but at this point, the rage over it has subsided.

Nope, this is about an unnecessary slap in the face to Michael Anthony, one that ranks right up there as one of the most pathetic attempted bitchslaps in Rock N' Roll history. If you want to see it for yourself, go check out Van Halen's official website, which reopened this week in conjunction with Van Halen's tour announcement, http://www.van-halen.com.

If you look at the sides of the website, you will see album covers. Immediately, most Van Halen fans will notice that only Roth-era album covers are shown. The four multi-platinum studio releases with Sammy Hagar, the live album, the Van Halen III CD with Gary Cherone, even the two Greatest Hits releases (one of which features the only new Roth-sung VH tunes in the last two decades) are all conspicuously absent. But that still isn't the insult I am referring to. With Roth back in the fold, you can't be shocked that Van Halen is focusing on the music they made from 1978-1984. It's how that music is being portrayed that is the issue here.

Grab your mouse and highlight the album covers. Start with Women And Children First. Instead of the classic band photo that graced the cover, there is a green box with the name of the band and the album, that's all. Then, check out the cover of Van Halen, the 1978 debut that to this day is the biggest selling Van Halen recording in the world. The group's first exposure to the world, the cover featured the band's logo in the center of four pictures of the group's founding members. There's Diamond Dave, striking a pose in leather pants with his shirt open, the penultimate frontman. There's Eddie Van Halen, the streaks of light from his guitar only hinting at the audio bombardment within. Alex Van Halen, bathed in red light, pounding the skins. And there's ... Wolfgang Van Halen?

That's right, Van Halen has removed the picture of Michael Anthony and replaced it with a shot of Wolfgang, who not only wasn't born in 1978, Eddie hadn't even met his mother yet!

Did they think no one would notice? Do they think that fans will now believe that the pounding bass line that opens Running With The Devil was played by a 16 year old kid? What's next, hiring George Lucas to digitally edit the Jump video to replace Michael with Wolfgang? More importantly, was this necessary? I think not. The Rolling Stones don't pretend Bill Wyman never existed. KISS doesn't pretend Ace Frehley and Peter Criss never existed. The Eagles don't pretend Don Felder and Bernie Leadon never existed. There is no justifiable reason to alter classic album covers to make it look like Anthony never existed.

At the press conference announcing their tour, David Lee Roth stated that Michael Anthony is part of Van Halen's past. But what reason is there for trying to erase him from the band's history? It isn't going to help the band sell tickets to their tour. It isn't going to bring back any fans that went away after being burned one too many times with promises from the band. It certainly isn't going to make things easier for Wolfgang. There is no reason for this shot at Anthony, who has never said a bad word publicly about his former bandmates.

The Van Halen brothers and David Lee Roth will no doubt make a lot of money this Fall. Heck, I might even buy a ticket, provided I can get the bank to approve a loan application for it. Too bad they won't be able to buy some class with it.

Mitenköhän minusta tuntuu että Mike sai kulissien takana "tuntuvaa korvausta" ym. hyvän miehen lisää Eddieltä ja Davelta ja teki samalla diilin johon kuului tuo "kuvapoistokin" ... Eikös muuten tuosta muuten tulisi iso (tekijän- yms.liittyvä) oikeusjuttu jenkeissä jollei Mikelle olisi tuo poisto jotenkin korvattu? Jos kerran Mike ja Eddie eivät kerran ole väleissä niin eiköhän rahalla saanut edes vähän balsamia haavoihinsa...

Sehän on selvä että monille hc-faneille moinen retusointi aiheuttaa herneen vetämisen välittömästi kun ottaa huomioon että kysehän on alkuperäisjäsenestä... Toisaalta luin jostakin että Mike suuttui kun Eddie ehdotti että mitäs tykkäisit jos Dave saataisi Sammyn tilalle. Mike kun sattuu olemaan Sammyn paras kaveri. Muutenkin sain sen käsityksen että Mikellä ja Davella on edelleenkin huonot välit (ilmeisesti 1984:stä lähtien).

Purists breathe easy: Yesterday's fiasco involving a version of the cover to Van Halen I where new bassist Wolfgang Van Halen was swapped in for estranged bassist Michael Anthony has ended, and the real cover is now up on the site.

No doubt when the "real" site launches next month, the band's Internet consultants will figure out a design that isn't as dependent on flogging the past, especially since David Lee Roth keeps shooting off his mouth about how this is a "new band"--so technically the set list for this tour will be made up of only cover songs. Does that mean that "California Girls" has a shot of making the set list?

Mä taas pahaa pelkään, että tämäkin juttu kuivuu kokoon kuten monen monta aikaisempaa yritystä saada Van Halen telakalta takaisin tien päälle. Eddie on sen verran syvällä, että vaikka välillä nouseekin, sortuu taas. Daven lompakko taitaa olla tyhjempi kuin luulinkaan, jos miehen ego kestää re-unionin kaiken vuosien varrella tapahtuneen loanheiton jälkeen.

Harvinaisen katkera bändi, oli sitten kyseessä Roth tai Anthony.

Itselle Van Halenin levyistä kolisevat parhaiten F.U.C.K , ou812 ja 1984.
Muuten touhusta on mennyt maku tuon ihmeellisen kikkailun takia enkä yllättyisi yhtään
jos DLR korvattaisiin E Van Halenin mummolla muutaman keikan jälkeen.
Ihme suteilua, mutta voi olla tietty tietoista julkisuuden hakuakin, ihmiset kiinnostuu bändin ympärillä pyörivästä huhumyllystä kaikkine levynkansi-episodeineen ja kohta on stadikat täynnä jengiä ja levyt listoilla -> jätkät kierii dollareissa.

Harvemmimpa haluaisi missään harjoituksissa olla todistamassa näin kovasti. Todella mielenkiinnolla odotan kuinka kauan tämä Van Halen kokoonpano pysyy kasassa, toivottavasti niin pitkään että Suomeenkin saisi herrat keikalle. Komialta näyttää lavasysteemit!

More photos have been posted online from the current VAN HALEN tour rehearsals, which are taking place in Los Angeles.

A report and photos have been widely distributed online from someone who got to see a VAN HALEN rehearsal at a Los Angeles location last Saturday night (September , rumored to be the Los Angeles Forum. The person, who wrote that he was taken to the rehearsal by a friend, described the stage has having an S-shaped runway that "snakes out into the audience," with a stage-long video screen mounted behind the performers. Guitarist Eddie Van Halen was the first to arrive, followed by his son and bassist Wolfgang and drummer Alex Van Halen. Wolfgang was accompanied by his mother and Eddie's ex-wife, Valerie Bertinelli, as well as five friends. Singer David Lee Roth arrived some time later.

Roth addressed the small crowd of approximately 40 to 50 people that watched the band run through its set, thanking them for coming and explaining where certain things would happen onstage during an actual performance. The writer said that Wolfgang Van Halen did a "fine job," but added, "I have absolutely nothing bad to say about him, but I'd be lying if I didn't say that (former bassist) Michael Anthony was missed. While Wolf competently filled the position, he doesn't have the same sound, either in his playing or in his voice, as Michael."

The spy posted the complete list of songs that the band rehearsed, although not in order. Don't read further if you want to be surprised. As expected, the list included nothing past the band's first six albums, ignoring the Sammy Hagar and Gary Cherone eras of the group.
