MEGADETH: New Album Pushed Back To 2007

MEGADETH frontman Dave Mustaine has told Gary Graff of Billboard.com that the band's upcoming album, entitled "United Abominations", has been pushed back to an early 2007 release through Roadrunner Records.

"We're putting the finishing touches on it," Mustaine told Billboard.com. "We've got a little more work before it's finished, but it should be out some time next year."

The singer/guitarist says the album, which he's producing with Jeff Balding, "has a lot of variation on it. It's got some surprises, but there's a really old-school vein to it, I would say." The group has been careful not to rush the album, either, holding sessions in London, Los Angeles and Nashville since earlier this year.

"We're taking our time with this one," Mustaine says. "It's a great feeling to make a record and not have our feet held to the fire. One of my heroes growing up was KISS, but they really frustrated me 'cause they would put out a record just about every year. I couldn't figure that out. I pretty much have a cycle of about 18 months to 24 months between records. I just can't put them out any quicker than that and feel comfortable about them."

MEGADETH: 'That One Night' Live CD/DVD Due In March

According to a posting on the MEGADETH fan site Rattlehead HQ, the live album that MEGADETH recorded on October 9, 2005 in Buenos Aires, Argentina appears to be slated for a March 6, 2007 release via Image Entertainment. Entitled "That One Night: Live in Buenos Aires", the set will be released in both CD and DVD formats. Three TV-broadcast video clips of MEGADETH's performance in Buenos Aires have been posted online at YouTube.com.

Onahn tähän Dave Mustainen kipparoimaan orkesteriin tullut tutustutta joskus reilu vuosi sitten ja hyllyynkin on päässyt ilmestymään kolme bändin tuotosta eli Peace Sells... But Who's Buying?, Countdown to Extinction sekä The System Has Failed. Sen lisäksi on tullut Rust in Peace ja Risk kuultua kirjaston lainaosaston ansiosta. Ainakaan itselleni tämä paljon kehuttu ja 'dethin mestariteokseksi mainittu RiR ei oikein iskenyt. Tykkäsin enemmän Risk -lätystä, jolta löytyy varsin mielenkiintoista materiaalia.
Peace Sells -kiekolla on kolme-neljä erinomaista biisiä, mutta jotenkin se vaan jokaisen kuuntelun jälkeen lässähtää aina jossain kohdin. Yksikään kuuntelu ei ole sujunut haukottelematta, mutta ne itselle iskevät biisit ovatkin sitten totaalista "tappaa talossa ja puutarhassa" -kamaa.
The System Has Failed on myös aika epätasainen teos pitäen sisällään muutaman helvetin hienon kappaleen (mm. Tears in A Vial, Back in the Day ja Something That I'm Not), mutta muuten karahdetaan joissain paikoissa tieltä hieman mehtään, mutta hyvä kiekko kaiken kaikkiaan on kysymyksessä.
Seuraavaksi varmaan hyllyyn päätyy ainakin Youthanasia, joka saataa olla ehkä se allekirjoittaneelle "sopivin" Megadeth -kiekko, näin ennakkoon kuulemieni biisien perusteella, mutta se selviää sitten kun levy löytää tiensä kaupasta omaan CD-soittimeen.

Ei muuten ollenkaan hullumpi! Pitänee tuo uusi levy hommata sitten 2007 alkupuolella.

Tässä on nyt pian pari kuukautta tullut aika tiheään Megadethiä luukutettua. Omistan levyt Peace Sellsistä Countdowniin asti, joista tällä hetkellä suosikkini on So Far... RIP ja Peace Sellskin ovat todella hyviä levyjä mutta Countdown ei paria kappaletta lukuunottamatta jätä sitä samaa fiilistä mikä toisilta levyiltä välittyy. Joku kerta sitten se Youthanasiakin hyllyyn...

Ei oo ihan eka keikka. Ekoja kuitenkin. Kokonaisenaki toi keikka on aika hilpeätä kuunneltavaa. Dave on über-kireänä/turhautunut/vittuuntunut. Kovempaa kamaa on tosin se yksi 1984 puhelinhaastis, haha! Jätkä on vähän hermona.

Oli tuokin... "Kirk Sucks, Kirk Sucks" ja Dave myötäilee "I Know, I Know"

Pääsi aamun ensimmäiset naurut sitten samalla. No niin, mutta ainakin huomasi että Dave veti biisiä tosissaan sellaisella meiningillä että "pois tieltä risut ja männynkävyt!"

Aika energinen veto. Sitä alkuaikojen ja nuoruuden intoa mukana. Taisi aikamoisia patoutumia olla Metallicaa kohtaan tuohon aikaan.

Sivulta löytyy myös paljon muita haastiksia. Alkuaikojen haastikset ainakin on mahtavia.. Davella tuntuu olevan aika paljon mielipiteitä.

Australia's The Metal Forge recently conducted an interview with MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine. A few excerpts from the chat follow:

On Gigantour:

"Gigantour is about the spirit of heavy metal, not just MEGADETH. It's not about Dave Mustaine. It's not about any one band. It's about metal. And the fans understand that. Gigantour has been fantastic and beautiful. We've seen fans sacrificing cattle and young critters, so everything's been perfect. And that Gigantour spirit is so dominant in Australia. Australia's a very hardcore country, with a huge number of metal enthusiasts. They deserve this. It's been a long time coming for fans down there to have a festival that's pure metal, without the bullshit. They need the real deal, and you know what? I'm just the kind of guy to help them get it together. We're getting into partnerships with the promoter down there right now to make Gigantour an annual thing. This is something that's going to continue on every year now. We only have a couple more shows to go and then we're heading down your way. The Big Day Out will soon become the Small Day Out, motherfuckers.”

On MEGADETH's upcoming album, "United Abominations":

"There's a couple of little things that need to be finished, but as soon as they're done, we'll start mixing it. What I can tell you though is that this new album isn't anything like 'The System Has Failed' (2004). I love this album! This album makes my nipples so hard you could use them to cut glass. I'm totally excited by this album. But having said that, I'm not going to tell you what it sounds like, because if I say it sounds like this, you're only going to say that it sounds like that. We should just sit down, have a couple of drinks and listen to it together. It's only then that know what I'm talking about, and I can watch as the album socks you in the face! (Laughs)"

"'United Abominations' will be released in March. I hate those phrases which say sometime early next year, maybe, could, unknown, as of yet and temporarily. If I have to get out there like The Naked Cowboy (who is otherwise known as Robert Burck) in Times Square (New York) and sing in my underwear, this album will be released in March. While there's a lot of girls that would line up to see me singing in my underwear, I would like to avoid that and see the album come out officially."

On the upcoming live effort, entitled "That One Night: Live in Buenos Aires", which will be released on both on CD and DVD through Image Entertainment:

"That comes out soon. The main focus of that is the DVD, not so much the CD. The CD. is purely for the collectors out there who want to have the audio component as well as the visual. The visual show is what it's all about. I think most people want to see what a real MEGADETH audience looks like, and this is it. I mean, I've been bragging about them for the last fifteen years. People want to see who these fuckers are! (Laughs) I can guarantee you that when you see this show, you're going to say, 'Oh my God! Mustaine was right!' We're mental on the stage, right? But those fucking Latinos man, they're on something. There's something in the water! They're passionate. No wonder the Latino women are so fierce."

MEGADETH fan site Rattlehead HQ has uploaded a transcript of the online chat with MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine, whick took place in the Gigantour Chat Room yesterday (Sunday, October). A couple of excerpts follow:

On potential European/U.K. Gigantour:

"I talked to my agent yesterday in the U.K., and unless after the parting of ways between my former manager and I affect our relationship, I see no reason to question this fantastic agent's ability to bring us to you. We talked about possibly April and then again later for festival. Gigantour Euro/U.K. will be probably five bands and small venues to build our fan base. . . I told my agent I wanted Gigantour U.K./Euro to be MEGADETH, ANTHRAX, TESTAMENT, EXODUS, and someone else."

On whether the band's cover of LED ZEPPELIN's "Out on the Tiles" will be the Japanese bonus track on the group's upcoming CD, "United Abominations":

"It depends on how the record finishes. It could be the best song. I think it rocks!"

On his chemistry with new MEGADETH bassist James Lomenzo (ex-BLACK LABEL SOCIETY, WHITE LION):

"Two nights ago I was finally able to let go of David Ellefson. I had always compared everyone to him that followed him, but two nights ago, I realized that James is my new soulmate on bass guitar. I absolutely stand by him as my new best buddie!"

On how this Gigantour compares to the last one:

"There have been some of the same challenges, and some new ones, but the fans have been the best and the bands all get along great!!!"

On whether he ever thought that Gigantour would be such a blast:

"I had hope, and I am talking to my agent Mike Dewdney in the U.K. a bit about bringing Gigantour to Europe and the U.K. in April when the new record is released, and I want to talk to some of the bands from Clash of the Titans to do it with me."

On whether his wife and kids join him when he tours:

"They are all coming to Australia. We fortunately have reconciled and I love my family."

Olishan tuo kova juttu ja lähtisin ehdottomasti katsomaan jos Suomeen tulisivat. Mutta täytyy sanoa, että ainakin Anthrax ja Exodus ovat sen tason livebändejä että Megadethin täytyisi vetää aika hyvin että pääsisi lähellekään noiden tasoa.

^^Toi olisi kyllä aivan mielettömän hienoa. Anthraxin ja Testamentin olen nähnyt ja ensiksi mainittu veti kyllä parhaimman keikan ikinä. Testamentinkin Tuska-keikka oli yksi parhaimmista näkemistäni.

Kaikki bändit olisi mielenkiintoista nähdä. Megadeth kiinnostaa noista vähiten, mutta on silläkin hyvää kamaa, esim. Rust In Peace on hieno levy.

Harmi vaan, ettei tunnu biisiä löytyvän, vaikka niin lupailevat.

EDIT: pienen selvittelyn jälkeen biisin videota ei tekijänoikeussyistä toistaiseksi näytetä USA:n ulkopuolella ja demoversio kappaleesta tuonne linkissä olevalle saitille tulee vasta myöhemmin.

Tulipa tuossa kuukausi takaperin ostettua The World Needs A Hero kun niin halvalla lähti. No, muutaman kuuntelun jälkeen se 7 euroa oli kyllä ihan oikea hinta tämän tasoisesta tuotoksesta. Parit hyvät biisit ("Disconnect", "1000 Times Goodbye" ja "Dread And The Fugitive Mind") ja loput enemmän tai vähemmän heikkotasoista tavaraa. No, on tämäkin paikkansa hyllyssä löytänee ja joskus mielentilan mukaan jopa vielä soittimeen päätyy.

Tässä sitä United Abominations levyä venaillaan.

Kaveri oli pitkään, aina tämän vuoden puoleen väliin "suurin" Megadethin vihaaja. Se ei pystyny sietämään Megadethia ja varsinkaan Mustainea. Meikäläinen sit yritti usein sille Megadethia mainostaa, mutta turhaan, sain vastaukseks joka kerta: "Metallica on 100 kertaa parempi!!" Mutta kuinkas nykyään? Jätkä kuuntelee 24/7 Megadethia ja koko sen kaveripiiri, joka ennen inhosi Mustainea ja kumppaneita, vaikka ikäväkylläkin Rust In Peace kyseiseltä henkilöltä puuttuu. Sanon sille aina et "Sit ku ostat Rust In Peacen, nii se on sit menoa. Goodbye to Metallica!!"
Tämä on kaikki riparin ansiota

. Leirillä soittelin kitaralla Holy Warsia ja Symphony of Destructionia, niin eikös tää äijä innostunu soittelee kans. Siltä meinas pää räjähtää, kun sanoin että "Toi mitä sä soitat on muuten Megadethia." Hyvä, ettei vetäny turpaan sillon

Ja ei, en vihaa Metallicaa. Se on myös pirun kova bändi, diggailen paljon, mutta Megadeth on menny ohi ja lujaa.

Millon ihmiset oppivat puhumaan Megadethistä mainitsematta Metallicaa?

Btw. Ensimmäinen metallilevyni on Countdown to Extinction ja Megadeth on minulle SE bändi.
