^ Kuuntelen tässä justiinsa tuota Ghost In The Ruins -liveä, huippua. Jon Oliva kadotti näihin aikoihin äänensä totaalisesti mitä en ihmettele yhtään, sen verran huoletta mies rääkyy menemään. Ei kai se kokapäissään missään tunnu...
Albumi on äänitetty HOTMK/Gutter -kiertueilla ja biisit on niiltä plus kahdelta ekalta levyltä eli raskaissa vesissä mennään ja livenä vieläkin tylympää kuultavaa. On kuin materiaali olisi nauhoitettu just siinä pimeässä reiässä mihin IC Mountain Kingiä 80-luvulla kuunnellessaan mielikuvituksessaan kurkisteli... karua.

Todella, siis todella paljon parempi paketti kuin Japan Live '94 jonka voikin ostaa sitten jostain alelaarista Fight For The Rockin ja Power Of The Nightin kanssa.

Tuolta pääsee kuuntelemaan paria uutta biisiä Jon Oliva's Painin tulevalta levyltä. Ei pahan kuuloista ollenkaan. Joutunee varmaan pistämään tuonkin levyn hankinta listan jatkoksi. 8)
Ja sinnepä on tullut kaksi uutta biisiä. Tuntuu pistelevän 'Tage Mahalia nokkiin ihan täysillä, tsekatkaapa vaikka tuo Push It To The Limit.

Tosiaankin, aika täysillä ekaa Jon Oliva's Pain -levyä vaikuttaisi tämä uusi potkivan päähän :!: Eepeen + pari biisiä tältä uudelta Maniacal Renderingsiltä olen kuullut & varsinkin tämä nimibiisi oli sellaista herkkua, että sai epäilemään niiden 'Criss-vainaan jäämistöä olevien riffinauhojen löytymisen' olevan sittenkin totta, eikä markkinakikkaa vain.. :?

Straight-Jacket Memoirs ep:n livevedoissa ('Tage Mahalilta 2 biisiä, eikö näiden pitänyt jossain vaiheessa olla Savatagea?) on hieman kehno soundi. Parempaa bootlegiakin olen tuolta Jonin eurokiertueelta kuullut.

Allmighty Savatage muutenkin ollut kovassa soitossa, ettei edes uutta BG:tä tahdo joutaa syventymään. The Dungeons Are Calling ep (1984) primitiivisemmällä revityksellään loistaa at the moment. Piru tuo Metalhead on kova biisi, vaikka mitälie uusintajulkaisun 'kadonneita demoja' onkin.

Tällainen löytyi CDON:in listoilta, aika epämääräisin tiedoin varustettu tuleva Savatage-julkaisu. Ehkä joku best of, se julkaisematon livelevy 90-luvulta, dvd-materiaalia vihdoinkin..? Tai sitten nuo börjet vaan keppostelee jotain.

edit: Kai tuo linkki suoraankin toimii, vai enkö osaa?

Sirensin huippuhetket ovat mielestäni nimibiisi, Holocaust ja Out on the Streets. Muutkin kappaleet toimivat loistavasti.

^ Hall Of The Mountain King & Streets repivät sitten mitättömän pienen ~10€ hankintahintansa jälkeen laadullaan aivolohkoja irti 8)

Mieluiten vihko kourassa (vaikka tarina meneekin ulkoa  ) & muun paskan ulkopuolelle sulkevat kuulokkeet päässä.

Huikea.

www.bravewords.com wrote:New SAVATAGE DVD In The Works
Posted on Monday, October 09, 2006 at 16:23:01

CHRIS CAFFERY, guitarist for SAVATAGE/TRANS SIBERIAN ORCHESTRA and solo artist, recently spoke to Metal Asylum just before rehearsals started for the TSO tour about his latest CD Pins And Needles, the future of SAVATAGE and a possible DVD, and DR. BUTCHER.

Metal Asylum: What is the album called and how would you compare it to Faces?
Caffery: "It's called Pins And Needles, like when your foot falls a sleep, and I don't think you can compare the two. Its like when your sitting there and your foot gets numb. Its kinda like sometimes in life you keep taking the same crap and dealing with the same things so much that after a while you become numb to it ya know. There's a focus and maturity with this record. When I recorded Faces I had so much material I wrote over the years to go through, I had no idea what people were going to like, I never sang before and basically I was like a kid in a candy shop as far as what I wanted people to hear. Now with Pins And Needles there is a set direction and its definitely not what people are expecting. I am very looking forward to people hearing it."

Metal Asylum: Recently some pro shot video footage of Savatage when Criss Oliva was in the band during the Streets era, along with footage from your time with the band during the Wake Of Magellan tour have surfaced online. When it is time to compile footage for a Savatage DVD, will footage of this nature be included?
Caffery: "Yeah that's the plan. The idea is to make a special compilation DVD with all the videos, classic live footage from when Criss Oliva (guitarist) was still alive and Jon Oliva was still the lead singer, some candid stuff, plus a new live concert with everyone involved who has recorded with Savatage. I know there is one concert from the Dynamo festival with the 'Mountain King' lineup that had a pro shoot, actually that week they asked me to re join the band for Gutter Ballet was when they were flying over for the show two days later and if I had a chance to rehearse with the band at all in time I would have been part of it too. I have a copy of that show and its about an hour or so and it's the only real pro shot footage that includes Criss Oliva at all."

Metal Asylum: Can you predict the possible future of Savatage and who will be involved in the band?
Caffery: "Well I really could not tell you exactly. I know we are going to do something for the anniversary. Maybe we will do one big huge concert, record an album including all the past and present members of the band, maybe a big European festival tour. If we do a special concert tour it will include Savatage's original drummer Wacholz playing the older music and probably include Alex Skolnick doing some stuff. Its just a matter of everyone getting on the same page ya know. I'm up for anything. I think the fans want to see more than one show, I know I do."
Tummennetut kohdat varmasti herättää jonkin sortin odotusta tietyillä tahoilla. 8)

http://www.pivotalalliance.com/webzine/ wrote:Are you planning take part in the fabled Savatage 25th Anniversary, whenever it actually comes together?

Fabled?! No, this is happening if I have anything to say about it. We’ll be wrapping up with the next TSO album at the beginning of 2007 and we’ll all get together and write for a studio album which will be part of the celebration. Even though it will take place on the band’s 26th year. The plan is to record an album, do a live dvd and also hopefully do multiple live appearances with the entire cast of characters that have been in Savatage.

Man,that sounds like you’ll need a stadium to pull something like that off?!

(laughs) We’ll definitely need a lot of room for that stage. Yes, this will happen and I look forward to being a part of it.
Näin puhui Zak Stevens. Ihan hienoa kyllä olisi jos lavalla nähtäisiin yhtäaikaa Oliva, Stevens, Jiniya, Keith Collinsin viikset yms.

Lisää uutista Savatage rintamalta, mielenkiinnolla odotan mitä tulevan pitää...

JON OLIVA On SAVATAGE: 'It's Over But It's Not Over' - Nov. 28, 2006
Rock My Monkey recently conducted an interview with SAVATAGE/JON OLIVA'S PAIN mastermind Jon Oliva. A few excerpts from the chat follow:

Rock My Monkey: You made it clear that SAVATAGE is over, but when I talked to Zach Stevens a week ago...

Jon Oliva: Well, it's over but it's not over, you know what I mean? It's over right now because no one's doing anything. We haven't disbanded or anything. We have plans to do something in the future. We're just... It's like every time we talk about it, and every time I say we're going to do something, something happens to fuck it up. (laughs) So in my opinion right now, nothing is going on until everybody says, "Okay, let's go do something." Then we'll probably do something. We want to do something for the 25th anniversary of the band, but it's just a time thing, and a schedule thing with everybody so busy with TRANS-SIBERIAN ORCHESTRA. Is like a runaway freight train right now. It's just getting everybody together. They all play in the orchestra, so that makes it even more difficult. The demands on the guys for that has become ten times what it was four or five years ago. That's one of the things that is been holding up there being a SAVATAGE thing. Another thing I think is the fact we've been together for twenty some odd years, and I think everybody just needed to get away from it for awhile. We never really had any break from 1983 all the way up until 2001. The most time we ever had off was when Criss [Oliva] died, and even then, I was recording "Handful of Rain" four months after he passed away. I mean, it was just, I think after the 2001 tour, and being stuck in the middle of 9/11, and being three thousand miles from home, and not being able to get home, I think that was the emotional thing that snapped everybody. We just got to put this down for a while. It wasn't fun anymore. We loved the band so much, I didn't want the band to end that way. I don't want the band to end that way. When everybody can give it the time and dedication it deserves, then we'll get together and we'll do something. Until then I'm going to continue doing what I'm doing now. We'll see what happens. You never know.

Rock My Monkey: So there is no definite time plan as far as the 25th anniversary?

Jon Oliva: No. It's like the 25th anniversary actually falls next year. 2007 I believe is the actual year. So we're going to try to do something. I've been doing video compilation stuff, and editing old things for a bonus DVD to go with it, that has a ton of live Criss stuff in concert, a lot of backstage frolicking about, and going to castles in Europe. I've been working on that for better part of a year and a half now, trying to do it like a kind of a movie type of thing. It's very time consuming, so I only can really do it when I have the time. But that's one part of the project. The other is going to be an album. Whether it's a live album, or a studio album, that I'm not sure of yet, because Paul [O'Neill] and I haven't really had time to sit and talk about it. But there are plans to do something, so something will happen.

Rock My Monkey: When that happens, are you going to consider that to be the proper goodbye?

Jon Oliva: That depends on everybody else. As far as I'm concerned, I'll keep playing stuff until I'm seventy years old. But it's like, there's got to come a time when you got to move on. The whole thing is, with TSO becoming so big and so popular, it's hard to convince people who are playing Madison Square Garden in front of 23,000 people to put that on the shelf for a year to do a SAVATAGE club tour. (laughs) If SAVATAGE sold millions of records, that would be a different story. We never sold millions of records. We have a very diehard, core following of lovely people, and very, very true fans, and we love them all. But their numbers were never significant enough to provide a living for anybody. Basically we were living week to week when we were doing all that stuff. SAVATAGE never made big money. We spent far more money than we earned on touring and videos, and god knows what else, crazy costumes and drum risers that couldn't fit in buildings. All kinds of cuckoo things like that. But we never cared because we just loved the band so much that we just, for us, it was just, we didn't know anything different from SAVATAGE. It was all we had from when we were twenty years old until now. It was half of our lives were dedicated to doing that. I can understand people, but I think people can also understand that after you've done something for twenty, twenty-five years, to take a few years and just step back and do some other things, I think is healthy. Because otherwise-I don't want to just sit there and hammer SAVATAGE into the ground, making the same album over and over again. To me, that would be a crime. I'd rather wait and not do anything, and then do something spectacular, than beat the thing into the ground. But I don't want to do that. And we don't need to do that because of the success of TSO. We've got the money and the stuff to take care of everybody. Now we can do it because we want to do it, not because we have to do it.

Rock My Monkey: Will this be — if you're able to do the 25th year anniversary — will there be a full production DVD filming of it, so fans can have that high quality archive?

Jon Oliva: Absolutely. It will definitely be — Paul wants to do it big, so it'll definitely be the full thing.

Rock My Monkey: Will this be a one time show, a full tour? Or do you know?

Jon Oliva: That I don't know. I would say to do one show would probably not work. I would say it probably be a small series of shows. Maybe a couple, two or three in America, and then three or four in Europe in certain areas. They would all be filmed, and then we would put it together from there.

Rock My Monkey: Cool. Well, if there is any way, anything I can do, humanly possible that I can do, to get you guys to do one of the shows in Seattle, I will go to amazing lengths to make it happen. I know that's way off in the corner for you.

Jon Oliva: I have a lot of friends in Seattle. Kurdt Vanderhoof is a good friend.

Rock My Monkey: There is that connection. Now this is totally hypothetical, obviously, but there was some strange magic that happened for TSO to explode the way it did. If some strange magic happens and the SAVATAGE DVD goes multi-platinum, would you be able to balance that and TSO, or would your head explode?

Jon Oliva: I would probably tie a rock around my ankle and find the highest bridge. I don't know. That would be something you'd have to deal with at the time. It's hard to say. TSO just keeps getting bigger and bigger and bigger every year. It's almost like a runaway train. It's very exciting watching it happen. I was on the road with them last week, and I was introduced at the soundboard. Kurdt Vanderhoof is running the sound for TSO out front, so I was hanging out front with Kurdt, and they introduced me, and I got a standing ovation from people all the way from eighty years old to eight years old. (laughs) It was weird, man. I felt like a circus ringmaster, or something.

^ Mielenkiintoista, kiitoksia. Mikäs moisia odotellessa, kun 'Tagen backkataloogi on kenties parhaiten armotonta kuuntelua kestävien joukossa, mitä löytyy

JOP:n uusi levykin on mainio, kuten myös Circle II Circlen uunituore nro 3. Chris Cafferyn levyllekin on kovat odotukset, kun edellisestäkin pidin paljon.

Voisikin kuunnella tässä Savan (harvalukuiseen) etäisempään päähän itselleni jääneen The Wake Of Magellanin.

Suoraan ostoon!
www.metalreviews.com wrote:SAVATAGE / TRANS-SIBERIAN ORCHESTRA / DOCTOR BUTCHER guitarist Chris Caffery has issued the following update:

"Home...good thing. It was for a day or so.

Then it started. Reality! Holy S#@%! I have so much to get together for the solo thing.

Deadlines, decisions, business, tours, merch, photo shoots, artwork...you name it, I have been dealing with it. That and the zillion mails and daily internet stuff I usually deal with. The site may go down tomorrow for 24 hours. Do not panic. It is supposed to be a nice weekend! Watch football, be with your family, clean the house... I know you can make it! I believe some of you organized a sub-site to deal with emergencies. This is not an emergency. Just the final switch to a total new server.

Have not had a chance to do my tour wrap up yet. I do admit I miss the tour. It was so much fun this year.

Still figuring out a few things before the new label announcement. I am very excited to start the press and general new CD activities.

As you can see the Pestpop Festival in Belgium announced we will be playing. This is confirmed, I am waiting for the final tour schedule to arrive to announce the other dates in this first run. It is a few weeks in Europe to start off. There will be some local US dates before this and more extended US and European touring announced for the summer.

Lots to do before NAMM. I have a photo shoot sometime next week. Too many other things to list in one posting!

I was hoping to get some extra sleep during the day this week, however the neighbor decided to rip up his basement floor so I was listening to a jackhammer all week! Fun!

Started to do more writing. May need a lot of stuff quick, I have been asked for songs by a few people. As well as me needing my own stuff!

Going to write the idea I had for a new Doctor Butcher horror CD as well. One that would only require Jon to sing a couple songs. Guest singers for the others. I will give you more info as this develops! Many well known metal singers have expressed interest in this project. Would be a lot of fun for me if I can get the time to finish it!

Watching the NETS now...they were losing 18-0 and finished the half 48-43 up!

Back to work!

Hope the new year has been good for all of you so far!"

No Helvetti!

SAVATAGE/TRANS-SIBERIAN ORCHESTRA guitarist Chris Caffery has inked a solo deal with Metal Heaven Records. His new album, "Pins & Needles", will be released later in the year.

"Pins & Needles" track listing:

01. Pins & Needles
02. Sixty-Six
03. Torment
04. Walls
05. YGBFKM
06. Sad
07. Chained
08. Worms
09. Crossed
10. The Time
11. Metal East
12. Qualdio
13. The Temple
14. Once Upon A Time (bonus track)

The follow-up to 2004's "Faces" and 2005's collection of bonus tracks and new compositions, "W.A.R.P.E.D.", was originally scheduled to be released through Greece's Black Lotus Records, but after the company closed its doors last year, Caffery was forced to seek a new label home.

According to a press release, "Pins & Needles" features a "more powerful, aggressive, experimental and focused attack that is sure to catch the ears of any metal fan." The album was produced by Caffery together with Nik Chinboukas at Nik's Hot Tracks Studio, Spin Studios and Happy Beaver Studios, Astoria, NY.

Caffery's band consists of Paul Morris (RAINBOW, DORO) on keyboards, Nick Douglas (DORO) on bass guitar, Jeff Plate (SAVATAGE, METAL CHURCH) and Yael (MY RUIN, FIREBALL MINISTRY) on drums as well as Dave Z on bass guitars.

Chris Caffery will be teaming up with STRATOVARIUS singer Timo Kotipelto for a European tour beginning on February 16 in Budapest, Hungary. The two artists will also share the stage at the Pestpop festival in Wieze, Belgium on April 21.

^ Hoitaahan se; todella hyvältä Needles And Pins kyllä kuulostaa, parin vkon päästä pääsee hankkimaankin. Kannattaa kuunnella myös soolodebyyttinsä Facesin virallinen rant-biisi Pisses Me Off tuolta myspacesta, aina yhtä mukava :) "Starbucks pisses me off, five bucks a cup -what the fuck is up?!"

Uudella levyllä seuraaja vaikuttaisi olevan YGBFKM (you gotta be fuckin' kidding me).
edit: Kah, siellähän on toinenkin uusi biisi (In The Midst) > pitääpä tsekata nyt samalla vaivalla sekin.
