Stream of Passion suffered a terrible blow on Friday afternoon when the band arrived at Calais, France to board the Ferry to England. The Mexican band members were instantly separated from the group, and each other, and were interrogated by British and French Police for four grueling hours. All because the British immigration service was convinced they were intending to take up illegal residence in England.
The immigration service asked Naomi, the band's tour manager, to provide them with evidence to the contrary, and listed the types of documents required. And though Naomi jumped through every one of their newly found hoops, and repeatedly produced whatever documentation they demanded as proof, they could not be persuaded. Even with the help from the kind promotors of the concerts in England, various Embassy officials, and immigrant agents in Britain (who told the tour manager there shouldn't have been any problem for them to enter the UK in the first place) there was no changing their minds. This eventually led to the 'deportation' of Marcela, Alejandro and Diana without any possibility for them to get to England to perform the shows.
It appears the Mexicans have fallen unfortunate victims of, as one British Immigration agent trying to help said: "the new British political flavor of the year: 'we hate all immigrants'".
Stream of Passion returned home that same day, extremely disappointed and disillusioned with the proceedings. They wish to apologize to all the British fans and to those fans who travelled from various countries all over the world, for being unable to make it to these last two shows. They deeply regret not being able to perform for you this last time, as they were also so much looking forward to meeting you all again.

Suomessakin sekä oman materiaalinsa että Ayreonin merkeissä vieraillut Stream of Passion on myös tullut kokonaan uuden tilanteen eteen. Kaikkein merkittävimmät uutiset Stream of Passionin suhteen lienevät muutokset kokoonpanossa ja siitä huolimatta kirkkaalta vaikuttava bändin tulevaisuus. Stream of Passionin taival tulee nimittäin jatkumaan, toisin kuin olisi ehkä saattanut luulla, mutta tämä tulee tapahtumaan ilman Arjen Lucassenia, Lori Linstruthia ja Alejandro Millánia. Sen sijaan Marcela Bovio, Johan van Stratum ja Davy Mickers aikovat jatkaa Stream of Passionin taivalta vielä pitkään, mikäli sopivanlainen kokoonpano saadaan muodostettua ja sävellyksiä syntyy sopivalla tavalla. Tämä voi tietenkin tuntua melko vaikealta ratkaisulta niille, joita bändi kiinnosti vain Arjen Lucassenin myötä ja muutenkin mihin tahansa bändiin vaikuttaa paljon puolen kokoonpanon muutos, joten aika näyttää, mihin Stream of Passion jatkossa suuntaa. I'm sad to say that I've been through a personal hell the last couple of months. I worked non-stop for many years and due to living on my own after the divorce with Jolanda, I have had a new (at first completely different) lifestyle. It has taken its toll, I guess.

Does this mean the end of Stream of Passion?
Fortunately not, the band will continue without me. They will write their own songs and I'm sure there's enough talent in the band to make a great new album and undertake successful tours without me pulling the strings.
Now onto the new Ayreon:
When did you actually start recording?
Basically I started recording a few months ago but due to my depression and the SoP tour I hadn't been in the studio until a week ago.
You’ve had to build a new studio in your new house, how are you adjusting to it?
It's basically the same as the old studio, and once I'm at work, I'm out there in space and I don't even notice where I am anyway!
Have you changed your methods at all, or is it like nothing really changed?
This time I'm coming up with more ideas in the studio while I'm recording. This way I have more freedom because I have no clear arrangements in my head and I can build songs based on new sounds I'm discovering. I'm also finding out that the songs are getting longer and more progressive this way.
Did you find/buy any new instruments or equipment you’ve been using?
Yes, I bought a digital synth (Microkorg) which sounds surprisingly good and is a welcome addition to my old analog stuff. I also bought a new Line 6 (pre)amp and I'm experimenting a lot combining different guitarsounds/amps.
What kind of instruments do you find yourself using most often?
Of course I've been longing to blow the dust off my old analog synths for a long time and madly twiddle the knobs, because I haven't used any in SoP. I'm also using my 7 string Ibanez guitar a lot, it sounds great and the extra low string really adds a new dimension.
Can you give us a tiny hint of what we can expect musically?
Because of my frame of mind the material so far is quite dark. There are some pretty heavy passages and the soft parts are quite mysterious. Though, to even it out, I will probably record some folky and happier stuff in the coming months when I feel better. I do think I will succeed in having it sound different from my previous albums again. I'm also thinking of releasing a single album this time, and using the remaining tracks as bonustracks for those who are interested. As some know, I hate to repeat myself and do the expected! Don't know if I will succeed though, things often turned out differently than the way I planned them...
Have you got any ideas yet as to the story of the new Ayreon?
Yes, but I haven't decided yet which way to go. I do know it will be a science fiction theme again, I really missed it :-) This time I would like to make the lyrics and the concept less obvious and more cryptic than before, if I can do it. It will be a new challenge. So if you can follow the story, I did something wrong :-)
Have you decided on any musical guests yet?
I do have a wish list of singers. But I will only decide on the guest musicians once the music is finished so I have a better view on what kind of voices I will need. Of course Ed (Warby) will drum and as usual I will play most instruments myself.
In the past you've auditioned unknown vocalists; do you still need recordings from new singers?
No. As I said, I already have a big list of possible vocalists. Singers are of course welcome to send me stuff, but I get so many recordings that I can't guarantee a reply.
And lastly, do you actually take care of your official MySpace site? And do you use MySpace often yourself?
My personal manager Yvette takes care of the MySpace site and forwards messages to me, unfortunately I don't have much time to check it out too often myself. I do check it every now and then though, and I use it a lot to discover new bands and listen to the soundclips.

Ayreon Demos Completed
Arjen just finished recording the demos for his seventh Ayreon album. As previously reported, Arjen went through a difficult time last winter. Since then he's been doing a lot better. He discovered that music truly is the best medicine and also drew inspiration from the many encouraging e-mails, letters, and postcards he received from his fans.
Though Arjen initially planned to release a single album, the plan -- as always -- changed as the composing progressed. Like 'The Human Equation' and 'Into the Electric Castle', the new Ayreon will be a double album featuring 15 tracks with a combined length of nearly 100 minutes.
Arjen and Ayreon-veteran Ed Warby (Gorefest) will enter the studio next month to record drums together with producer Gordon Groothedde.
Arjen is currently checking the availability of vocalists and instrumentalists to see who can be scheduled to appear. A number of vocalists have already responded enthusiastically. Arjen has a long wish-list, and it promises to be quite a puzzle to figure out who will be singing where and what.
No release date has been set.

Ainakaan albumin tekeminen tai sitä edeltäneet ajat eivät ole todellakaan olleet kaikkein mutkattomimpia. Niille jotka eivät ole olleet asiasta tietoisia kerrottakoon, että Arjen sairastui jonkin aikaa sitten melkoisen omituiseen sairauteen, joka vei häneltä viime syksynä sekä maku- että hajuaistin kokonaan. Just thought I'd update the list on the latest happenings in the Electric Castle. As you may have read in the interview that Arjen gave a few months ago, Arjen initially intended for the new Ayreon to be a one CD release. But since that interview (and your many kind wishes for his health) Arjen's mood improved tremendously and inspiration soared. He's just finished the demo recordings and there are currently 15 tracks with a total duration of nearly 100 minutes. In other words: the new Ayreon will be a double album again!
Together with the label, we've started to contact vocalists on the long, long, long list to see if any are interested (and willing & able) to be on the new Ayreon. And we've had a couple positive responses already. Arjen needs quite a few, so we'll be busy for a while. ;-)
Drum recording will start soon (with Ed Warby of course) and Arjen has started writing lyrics but (apart from the sci-fi theme Arjen previously mentioned) I'm not saying anything about that. ;-)

Tuohon Star One -projektiin en ole missään muodossa ehtinyt tutustua, kun tämä Ayreon-hommakin jo räjäyttää tajuntaa aivan tolkuttomasti. Kunpa olisi sitä rahhoo enemmänkin.
Kuten tuossa aiemmin kirjoittelin, lähtee noita kaikkia levyjä tosiaan playsta siihen 12 euron hintaan ja jos ongelmaksi tulee esimerkiksi sopivan maksukortin (tietyt Visa Electronit ym.) löytyminen, niin esimerkiksi minuun voi kyllä ottaa yhteyttä tilaamisen merkeissä. 30 eurolla en ole kyllä nähnyt noita levyjä missään, mutta onhan se 20 euroakin välillä vähän nihkeää maksettavaa. Ja tosiaan, jos meikäläiseltä kysytään, niin kaikki mainitut albumit ovat hankkimisen arvoisia. Jos kuitenkin jonkinlaisia lähtökohtia otetaan, niin oma top3 Arjenin tuotannosta koostuu edelleen Ayreonin Into The Electric Castlesta, Ayreonin The Human Equationista ja Star Onen Space Metalista. Erittäin hyvän käsityksen kaikesta saa myös Star Onen ja Stream Of Passionin live-albumeista, joilla kuullaan parin tunnin verran sekä mainittuja bändejä että Ayreonia. Viimeistään nyt jos koskaan on hyvä sauma ottaa tämän neron tuotantoa haltuun. Kunnioitukseni on suurta.
Stream of Passion/Ayreonin live in the real world -live oli ainakin todella tasokas ja kova lätty.
