^Jotakuinkin näin, Wacken on sellainen otos, että voisipa sitä jopa pitää soveliaana testamenttina livetouhujen osalta. Ainakin näin dvd:n muotoon verhottuna. Tuskin tulee Acoustican ja sen lisäksi mitään hankittua, elleivät nyt tohon takapihalle tule vetämään ja ite kuvaan.

Märkä uneni on edelleenkin se, että jostain arkistojen kätköistä löytyisi Uli Jon Roth-kauden Scorpions-keikkamateriaalia 70-luvulta, ja sitä sitten kaupattaisiin DVD:nä... Tokyo Tapes varustettuna kuvalla? Siinähän sitä olisikin jo parhautta enemmän kuin laki sallii.

No perskule johan lävähti uutinen Scorpionsin sivuilta, kun muutaman päivän tauon jälkeen sinne pääsin visitoimaan!! Uusi kahden vuoden kiertue, uusi albumi jne. ai ai kyllä tekkee hyvvöö



2009 was the year of the Scorpions: they received the German lifetime achievement ECHO, collected many other awards, and undertook a grand tour through Russia, the U.S. and Europe. However, it is 2010 that will set a milestone for the career of the most successful international rock band from Germany. The Scorpions will be touring the world for the next 2 years and performing in the largest venues and stadiums that cross their path. The mammoth tour will be launched for the first time in many years in Germany. “It was important for us to give our fans a chance to celebrate a never-to-forget party with us”, said band founder Rudolf Schenker. Klaus Meine stated, “2010 is going to be a very special year for the Scorpions, so it is an especially good feeling to be able to start this tour at home”.

To top it all off, the Scorpions are planning on releasing a sensational statement this January at a press conference.

The performances in Germany will be followed by concerts in the U.S., South America, Asia, Russia and various countries in Europe. Matthias Jabs remarked about the tour, “we are very excited to be touring the globe for the next two years. The Scorpions want to rock the world once again!”

Momentarily, the band is in the recording studio working on their upcoming album "Sting in the Tail" that will also be released in 2010. The brand new DVD “Amazonia” - a live recording of the Scorpions concerts in Manaus and Recife, Brazil - is in stores now.

Scorpparit ovat kyllä ryhdistäytyneet merkillepantavasti, kun katsotaan miten alhaalla pohjamudissa olivat sen 10 v. sitten Eye II Eyen aikaan. Vaikka uusin Humanity Hour I on kenties pikkuisen liian rauhallinen tai ylipitkä (aikalailla kuten ensinmainittua edeltänyt Pure Instinct, samat pätevät siihenkin), mutta sisältää silti paljon hyviä biisejä. Unbreakablellahan tämä nousu kuitenkin alkoi, hyvä rokkialbumikokonaisuus.

Uskomatonta, että vedettävät vielä tuolla tavalla. Antaa kyllä toivoa monelle muullekin uransa ehtoopuolella olevalle bändille. Unbreakable oli jo melkein hitti, jota sitten Humanity Hour 1 oli ihan kunnolla. Pari viimeistä levyä ovat nostaneet Scorpionsin oikeille raiteille, toivottavasti tuleva levy pitää bändin siellä ja antaa homman jatkua hamaan loppuun saakka. Total Support täältä, hyvin on maistunut viime vuosien Scorpparit.

Sedillä Schenker ja Meine alkaa olla jo tuota ikää kohtuullisen kiitettävästi (61-vuotiaita molemmat). Ei voi olla enää montaa vuotta kiertuekikkailua jäljellä. Joskohan tämä tammikuun "sensational statement" olisi viimeisen kiertueen julkistaminen?

Tai sitten nämä(kin) kaverit rundaa hautaan asti.

SCORPIONS Guitarist: 'We're Going Back To The Roots Of The Band' On Upcoming CD

Polish web site Plejada conducted an interview with guitarist Rudolf Schenker and vocalist Klaus Meine of German hard rock veterans SCORPIONS when the band performed in Zabrze, Poland on December 5, 2009. Watch the chat below.

SCORPIONS have set "Sting In The Tail" as the title of their new album, tentatively due in early 2010. The CD is being recorded at a studio in Hannover, Germany with Swedish producers Mikael "Nord" Andersson and Martin Hansen (the team behind THE RASMUS' "Dead Letters" CD).

Commented Rudolf: "After 'Humanity - Hour 1', which was more in the concept-album [vein], talking about the problems in the world, we said, 'OK, we talked about all these things which [were] happening and now we don't wanna talk again about problems, now we wanna party. We're going back to the roots of the band.

"We have great rock songs — fantastic rock songs — we have great ballads... The mixture if 10 percent ballads and the rest is up-tempo and mid-tempo [material]. And I think we have a great team of people working for us, producer team from Sweden — they're great people — and we're doing this recording in Stockholm and in Hannover, where my studio is.

"It looks great. We have a fantastic sound, because my studio is very good for guitars, and this time we're looking very much also to bring the guitars up, and, of course, with the great voice of Klaus, with the right melodies, giving the right vibe — the typical SCORPIONS sound."

Added Klaus: "We recorded the last album in the U.S. This has a more European kind of feel, I think, working in Germany and in Sweden. And we're looking very much forward to releasing this in the spring and we can't wait to play the songs live on stage.

"We tried to find this spontaneous moment — not to overproduce things and to keep things really fresh.

"There are a lot of great songs on this record. And we always had our fans in mind [when putting the material together], especially the tour next year, because we hope many [of the new] songs we can [perform live] on the road."

Eipä kyllä, vaikka otsikosta tuleekin mieleen "ai Lonesome Crow / Fly To The Rainbow-trippailuihinko?" Mutta eiköhän tuolla now we wanna partylla meinata kahdeksankymmentäluvun vaihdetta tai sen alkupäätä, toivottavasti. Uudet Lovedrivet, Hey Yout, Make It Realit, No One Like Yout, The Zoot & Coming Homet kyllä kelpaisivat mainiosti.

It was always our pleasure, our purpose in life, our passion and we were fortunate enough to make music for you - whether it was live on stage or in the studio, creating new songs. While we were working on our album these past few months, we could literally feel how powerful and creative our work was – and how much fun we were still having, in the process. But there was also something else: We want to end the Scorpion’s extraordinary career on a high note. We are extremely grateful for the fact that we still have the same passion for music we’ve always had since the beginning. This is why, especially now, we agree we have reached the end of the road. We finish our career with an album we consider to be one of the best we have ever recorded and with a tour that will start in our home country Germany and take us to five different continents over the next few years.

Kaikki päättyy aikanaan ja hieno ura äijillä takana. Toivottavasti tuleva levy olisi sitten todella kova. Vähitellen nämä oman nuoruuden idolit sitten alkavat ilmoitella lopettamisestaan. Vähiin käyvät myös Maidenin, Priestin ym.vuodet.

Saavat luvan piipahtaa Suomessa, kun on tämäkin tapaus vielä livenä näkemättä (vaikka joka toinen vuosi Keskisen kemuissa vierailevatkin).

Sama homma kuin edellisellä kirjoittajalla. Pirun usein äijät ovat täällä ravanneet, mutta siltikään en ole sattunut livenä vielä kertaakaan tsekkaamaan, vaikka kiinnostusta olisi. Harkitsen vakavasti keikalle lähtöä, jos yhtye täällä vielä tuon viimeisen kerran visitoi.

Olipas varsin ikävä uutinen heti näin alkuvuoteen, vaikka toki ymmärrettävä päätös. Silti kyllä toivoin kokoajan että kyse olisi ollut jostain muusta uutisesta, kuin tästä...no näillä mennään

Se kerta, kun oli mahdollisuus kätevästi nähdä Scorpions vuoden 2008 Saunassa, tuli tietysti möhlittyä: vääränlaisen juomapolitiikan kautta tuli voitua huonosti lähes koko Scorppareiden keikka Send Me an Angel sai aikaan pientä liikettä kyllä. Sääli, sillä olihan tuota keikkaa varten valmistauduttu kevään aikana.

Maailman paras instrumentaali. Ei siinä tarvita hirmuista kitararunkkua, jotta saa instrumentaalin kuulostamaan hyvältä.

Järjetön tapporiffi ja koko biisi murhaa. Tuli vaan ns.väärään aikaan ja meni monelta ohi.

Bad Boys Running wild

Tässä biisissä on semmoinen taika, joka edelleen vetää puoleensa. loistavaa riffittelyä, sooloilua, hienot lyriikat ja tunnelma.

Don't believe her

Ensimmäistä kertaa kuunnellessa nousi jo muna pystyyn. Ikivihreä alusta asti loistavine riffeineen, kertosäkeineen ja sooloineen.

No one like you

Rakenteeltaan niin simppeli, mutta niin toimiva. Vaikea perustella enempää, siinä on vaan se jokin.

Still loving you

The Balladi. Niin kulunut kuin onkin, kyllä se vaan vitun kova on edelleen. Kaikki on kohdallaan.

Pictured Life

70-luvun helmi. Hienot leadit, säkeistöt, kertsit... kaikki loistavaa. Wacken Open Air-dvd:llä biisi on täydellinen Uli Rothin ollessa mukana, nykysoundeilla.

The Zoo

The Alkuriffi. James Kottak vetää sen vielä niin paljon paremmin kuin Rarebell aikoinaan. Hiipivä säkeistö ja tolkuton kertosäe. Voice-boxista en yleisesti juurikaan pidä, mutta tässä se kuuluu asiaan. Livenä parhaimmillaan.

Scorppareiden paras balladi SLY:n ohella. Sovitus, lyriikat ja soundit hakevat vertaistaan. Tunnelmasta puhumattakaan.

Tappobiisi. Hiki tulee jo tätä katsoessakin dvd:ltä. Raivoa.Riffiä.Sooloa. Silkkaa murhaa. Adrenaliini virtaa. Arvosana 10+++.

[Toxic Enema]

Minun mielestäni Scorpions lähti uuteen nousuun jo vuoden 2001 acoustica-livellä, vaikkei se juurikaan uusia biisejä sisältänytkään mutta hyvällä maulla valittu biisi-materiaali ja hieno toteutus aikana jolloin akustiset projektit eivät enää olleet edes muotia antoi jo viitteitä paremmasta.

Hieno kirjoitus Tobiakselta. Mikäköhän siinä on että varsinkin Saksassa pändi ei ole tainnut enää olla vuosiin kovin arvostettu, vaikka Scorppareiden nämä viime vuodet ovat olleet pelkkää ylämäkeä, joka voidaan nähdä alkaneen 1999 Eye to eye levyn jälkeen.
