Toisaalta aika pitkälle sivuuttamani debyytin ja Horror Shown When The Night Falls ja Damien kuulostivat ihan päteviltä livenä, joten täytynee antaa levyille taas pitkästä aikaa mahdollisuus.

Kannattaa, mie olen aina tykännyt varsinkin debyytistä paljon, ei persoonallinen vokalisti ole haitaksi. Ja tuo biisi olisikin ollut setin mielenkiintoisimpia, meni vain 3 muun bändin parissa to-pe itämerellä niin vielä tullut uutta häiskää tsekattua. Mutta toivottavasti pitävät sen listalla ensi keikkaansa täällä, sekä ottavat toisen bändin parhaista biiseistä, Ten Thousand Strongin mukaan. Järkyttävästi taas pudotettu alkuvaiheen jälkeen pois, Wackenissakin meitä oli kuiten ainakin edessä paljon sitä huutaen vaatimassa.

Siis oli kyllä aivan järkyttävän kova keikka. Uusi levy ei toiminut erityisen hyvin, mutta livenä kappaleet olivat astetta parempia. Etenkin Dystopia oli aivan erinomainen ja hyvä aloitusralli. Vanhemmat kappaleet olivatkin sitten todella suurta herkkua. Kohokohdiksi nousivat Angels Holocaust ja My Own Savior. Stu veti todella hyvin, ei Schaffer olisi voinut parempaa valintaa tehdä. Tietysti Matt oli aivan omaa luokkaansa, kyllä, välillä huonosti vedetyistä osuuksista huolimatta, ainakin minulle, mutta Stu ei jättänyt epäilyksen varaan mitään - IE on palannut eikä loppua näy. Toivottavasti seuraava levy toimii minulle paremmin.

Seuraavan kerran kun Suomeen tulevat, niin ehdottomasti pitää olla paikalla, ja kesällä tulee varmaan nähtyä jollain festarilla tai useammallakin Euroopassa. Toivottavasti teltassa ja melkein keskellä yötä.

Sama homma! Damien toimi aivan hemmetin hyvin livenä, vaikka Horror Show onkin lähes tuntematon minulle. Joskus kuuntelin kerran-kaksi, sitten jäi. Nyt ihan harmittaa jälkikäteen, että otin kappaleen videolle, koska se aina syö keskittymistä jonkin verran. Prööts. Taidankin kuunnella Damienin nyt heti.

Hello friends,

I’m proud to present you with the SOL “Spirit of the Times” 5-track-EP which is now ready for release. It will only be available on iTunes, and many other digital channels, as we have chosen to not involve a record label for now. We wanted to do this directly from us to you.

It is my sincere hope that this EP will continue to spread brushfires of liberty in the minds of people from all corners of the globe. I wish I would have had time to write, record, and mix more songs, but with the intense and demanding schedule that Iced Earth is requiring from me, this is the best I could do.

On this recording, I was once again joined by Jim Morris (guitar solos, backing vocals) and Ruben Drake (bass guitar). Jim and I programmed the drums in order to keep recording costs down. As you know, SOL is about the message and the idea, but there are costs involved to keep it going. Though I still encourage you to make copies and pass them out to everyone you can, there will not be a free download available this time around.

Due to my recording and touring schedule with Iced Earth, I have not been as present as I would like to be in the cause for liberty. Please know that I stand with all of you freedom fighters in spirit, regardless of what race you are, what language you speak, or which God you choose, or not choose, to worship. I will be there when duty calls, count on it.

The free human spirit is rising all over the planet. I’ve been fortunate enough in my travels to speak with some amazing and very awake people in the last few years, and I can honestly and gladly state, that we are having an effect.

Continue to educate yourselves, think for yourselves, use your power of discernment, and most importantly; be there for each other.

Good people all over the world can band together and make this a world of peace and prosperity for all of its inhabitants if only we truly connect with the power and will of the free human spirit.

Creator Failuren 2:55 alkavassa kohdassa lähennellään jo aika lo-fi black metal -tunnelmia Travel in Stygian on astetta parempilaatuinen ja varustettu vähän erilaisella laulusovituksella kuin levyillä. Pitäis tämä bootleg ehdottomasti saada jostain itellekin.

ICED EARTH: Cyprus Concert To Be Filmed, Recorded For DVD, CD

According to RockOverdose.gr, ICED EARTH's August 19 concert at the ancient Kourion Amphitheater, outside Limassol in Cyprus, will be professionally filmed and recorded for an upcoming CD/DVD release. Tickets for the show are limited to 1,500.

ICED EARTH's video for the song "Anthem" was filmed on December 7, 2011 at Essigfabrik in Cologne, Germany.

Produced and directed by Kosch Fabian Film, "Anthem" is the second music video from ICED EARTH's new album, "Dystopia", which sold around 6,100 copies in the United States in its first week of release to land at position No. 67 on The Billboard 200 chart.

ICED EARTH's previous CD, "The Crucible of Man (Something Wicked Part II)", opened with 6,700 units in September 2008 to debut at No. 79.

ICED EARTH's 10th studio offering, "Dystopia", was released in Europe on October 17, 2011 and in the U.S. on October 18 via Century Media Records. Two bonus tracks were also recorded for inclusion on special editions of the album.

Ja Jalometallin jälkeen kirjoittamaan uutta matskua, sekin kelpaa! Sääli että basisti lähtenyt vaihteeksi; Vidales oli todella hyvä live-esiintyjä ja ennenkaikkea taustalaulaja, mitä tuli Wackenissa todistettua lavan edestäkin.

ICED EARTH To Begin Writing New Material In The Fall - Apr. 21, 2012

ICED EARTH guitarist/mainman Jon Schaffer has issued the following update:

"Just wanted to write a thank you to all the fans on the last leg of the tour. You guys were amazing every single night, no matter where in the world we were. It was a truly special run, and one that will remain high in my memories for years to come.

"We will start songwriting in the fall this year and will continue that, and the subsequent production for the new album, in between and around upcoming tour plans for the remainder of 2012-2013. Busy, focused, and energizing times lie ahead, but we are stoked and ready! Count on it!

"I'm currently in South America, hanging with friends, and taking care of some personal business here. Home sweet home is just around the corner, and I'm looking forward to sleeping in my own bed! AHHHHH!!!!

"I'd also like to say good luck to [former ICED EARTH bassist] Freddie Vidales. We had a lot of fun through the years and I wish him all the best for his future. We totally understand his decision and support it 100%. Best to you, brother!

"Until next time, thank you once again... take care, and I wish you all the very best life has to offer!"

Vidales left ICED EARTH after the Chinese shows earlier this month. Due to the band's massive touring commitments, there was immediate need for a replacement, and Luke Appleton (of FURY UK, with whom ICED EARTH toured in Europe last winter) has stepped up to the plate and will be joining the tour in time for the June 16 show in Bangalore, India.

Former ICED EARTH, NEVERMORE Members Unveil Name Of New Project

Former ICED EARTH members Matt Barlow (vocals) and Freddie Vidales (bass, guitar), along with ex-NEVERMORE drummer Van Williams, have set ASHES OF ARES as the name of their brand new project.

Within months of their departures from the iconic metal bands ICED EARTH and NEVERMORE, the trio came together with a renewed drive to create a sound which is a true collaboration of their personal influences, ideas and visions. Armed with the knowledge acquired through years of the writing, touring and recording cycle, and with the support of an army of loyal fans across the globe, ASHES OF ARES is poised to carve out a new legacy and stand alongside those who have helped pave the way.

A new taste of what is to come can be heard in the YouTube clip below.

Commented Barlow: "Well, though we are still in the early stages of progress, we are really excited about what we are hearing thus far. We hope that you have patience with us as we continue with this creative process and search for a record label that will help us bring our music to you all in the best way. Thanks for all your support.... More to come!"

Barlow announced his retirement from ICED EARTH in March 2011, citing his commitment to his family and the need for the group to tour more as the reasons for his exit.

Vidales left ICED EARTH earlier this year for reasons which were not disclosed. He says, "I know from the outside it seems nuts to leave a band with so much going for it, but from the inside it made a lot of sense to me." He adds, "I did not leave because Matt left or so we could work on this [new project], I also did not leave because of the heavy touring. I was actually glad that the touring had picked up. My reasons are private. The guys in the band know, and that's all who need to know."

Williams and guitarist Jeff Loomis announced their departure from NEVERMORE in April 2011 due to personal differences with the band's lead singer, Warrel Dane, and bassist, Jim Sheppard.

The new ICED EARTH studio album is expected to have an October 2013 release date. It will be titled “PLAGUES OF BABYLON” and we are very excited about how killer things are sounding this early in the writing/demo process. Below are some of the song titles that will appear on the album.

^ Hieno homma, mutta toivottavasti parantavat ja mielellään rutkasti Dystopiasta. Anthems ja yksi biisi, mitä en muista, olivat ainoat, mitkä pääsivät sinne upealle Iced Earth-tasolle sävellyksellisesti. Muuten oli aika köyhää riffiä hivenen liikaa.

Myöskin saundipolitiikkaan voisi keskittyä astetta enemmän, koska sekin meni hieman reisille Dystopian kanssa. Jotenkin ylikireä ja ohkainen saundipolitiikka ei palvele IE:ta lainkaan. Kitaroista puhuttaessa siis. Basso oli muistaakseni pienellä ja rumpusaundia en nyt muista. Jollekin rupuiselle blackthrash-poppoolle, joiden soittotaito ja riffit ovat sitä sun tätä, moinen meno toimii jopa erinomaisesti, mutta ei maailmanluokan yhtyeellea'la Iced Earth(ja maailmanluokan komppaajalle a'la J.Schaffer) .

ICED EARTH have announced that BRENT SMEDLEY will be stepping down from drum duty in ICED EARTH for personal family reasons. The new drummer will be RAPHAEL SAINI and will be performing with the group starting this summer.

“I have family members that are elderly and frail and need my help here in Jacksonville”, Brent Smedley says. “It’s been one of the hardest decisions of my life but I simply cannot commit to the kind of schedule the band deserves and requires so I decided to ask permission to step down from my post.”

“Brent has been a valued member of the group for a long time. We thank him for his contributions, friendship and energy and wish him all the best for the future. We want to welcome Raphael with open arms and are expecting for our fans to give him the welcome he deserves” - ICED EARTH.

ICED EARTH just released a concert from their “WORLD DYSTOPIA TOUR” in many different formats, including BluRay, DVD and CD. Entitled “LIVE IN ANCIENT KOURION” it shows the band playing to a rabid, packed house in an ancient amphitheater in Cyprus and storming through an encompassing setlist of both fan favourites and deep catalog material.

The summer will be spent recording and mixing a new studio album entitled “PLAGUES OF BABYLON” and playing various summer festivals. A headline tour has been announced kicking off in January 2014.

Today, ASHES OF ARES are happy to reveal details on their upcoming debut album. The self-titled record »Ashes Of Ares« will be released via Nuclear Blast Records on September 6 as a limited CD in Digipak incl. a bonus track as well as in two different 2LP versions. The tracklist reads as follows:

En ole muuten ostanut tuota uutta DVD:tä ja vissiin kannattaa? Huomenna voisi kahden kympin kohtuuhintaan Äxästä hakea, kun näkyy netin mukaan liikkeestä löytyvän. Civil War-rästi samalla mukaan, vaikka tuossa on tuota kk:n takaista ostettua julkaisutulvaa vieläkin kahlattavana.
