Review:
Never heard of this band before getting this album, but they are around since 2001 and this is already their third studio album, so I guess some of you might have heard of them already. Witheria presents us here 9 tracks in 45 minutes of fast Thrash Metal with modern sound and a strong Speed Metal influence. this is a very good album, all tracks are catchy and have the potential to stand up by themselves, and that's because they are good instrumentists and the fact they are playing together for a decade now made their compositions more mature. Sharp guitar riffs, countless guitar solos, fast and aggressive rhythm section (with powerful sounding bass lines) and a vicious vocal that's supported here and there by growls, basically that's what you get here. Killer tunes, killer album.

Torven keikka tuli pitkäperjantaina todistettua ja kyllä bändi oli vallan oivassa iskussa. Lappiskin intoutui moshailemaan niin hurjasti että meinasi kuulemma taju lähteä Tupe veti vokaalit helvetin hyvin läpi koko keikan. Kirkumiset, matalammat murinat ja kaikki siltä väliltä lähti varsin vaivattoman näköisesti/kuuloisesti.

Lahti vaikutti varsin asialliselta kaupungilta ja Torvi oli keikkamesta meikäläisen makuun. Vakuutuin viimeistään siinä vaiheessa, kun illan viimeisenä biisinä soi Eläkeläisten Humppaan itsekseni. Mimmit joraili ns. täysillä ja yksi jannu kirjaimellisesti humppasi itsekseen, hyppien ympäri baaria koko biisin ajan. Mahtava meininki

Kyllä, hyvä keikka saatiin vedettyä. Revanssin makua olikin itselläni ilmassa, koska 2 vuoden takainen Witheria-veto Torvessa meni omalta kohdaltani heikoiten koskaan.
Populaakin oli tosiaan kiitettävästi, saatiin bändeille bensarahat. Kiitosta vaan.

Sä olet vaan vaatimaton - kaikkihan tietää, että muusikot kylpee rahassa, ja keikkailulla tienaa keskimäärin ihan vitusti.

Arvostelua;

Open the flood gates of thrash, for the second time in a few days Finland’s thrash beasts come out to play. Witheria play thrash with a big influence of some unholy screams. This is an altogether heavier disposition. I do hear some melodic death rhythms and sweeping solos, take ‘Obscene Desecrator’ for example, these traits feature during what would be a chorus, the verses tend to be at breakneck pace with a pure European thrash edge, the chorus’ in general feature a groove and listenable quality about them.

Edgy is how I would describe this release, torturous Destruction worship helps solidify the personal influences mixed and matched during genre crossing and giving the listener a fresh modern approach without sacrificing that classic feel. The mix is rather powerful, the chunky bass sound often forgotten, is in this case mastered perfectly, even its hammer blow can be distinguished through some vibrant solos. Musical composition is Witheria’s strength, for all the influences heralded on disc, there is something that splits atoms and makes you crank up the volume further. ‘The Final Hour’ reminds me very much of the current Kreator sound, but for the death growls appearing here and there. Chugging at the soul of the thrasher, you get hooked and engrossed into the Witheria world. Fist raising prospects precede a mosh session when ‘The Nameless Beast’ gets going, I am a particular sucker for finger tapping, replenishing this desire is no problem, but I sometimes find going too low and death-like in the vocals destroys some of the feeling. This band are not afraid to play with time signatures, sometimes they can fall short, from what I hear here, there is no such chance of this happening.

‘Vanishing Order’ is truly evil thrash with across the board twists and turns, the skill of making aggressive inspiring arrangements still manages to impress. This is no struggling third album, and I urge you to track down their other efforts as well as this ball’s out feast of tantric excitement.

Minulle kävi tismalleen samalla lailla 27.10. Perkele, tulis se miksaaja tai Jarttu aikaisemmin perimään sitä 40€... Ei tuota muista koskaan.

Haa! Kuuntelin töistä tullessani autossa tätä uusinta ja kävi häiritsemään että miks Perished In Tormentin kohdasta 2.10 alkava riffi kuulostaa niin tutulta ja on kuulostanut joskus aikaisemminkin. Häiritsi sen verran, että piti käydä leikkimään salapoliisia ja selvittää juttu. Testamentiltahan se on pöllitty, perkele The Hauntingin kakkosriffi. Ei mulla muuta.

Major announcement - 13/03/13


It's been over a year now since the last update, but here it is - What's going on in the Witheria camp!


I - Line-up changes

J. Warhead decided to quit Witheria in early 2012, due to his lack of motivation. This happened in a mutual understanding and we wish him the best of luck in his ongoing endeavours. We did not start seeking a new guitar player at this point, but concentrated in the songwriting instead. During the songwriting process it became clear that Lappis "the Predator" would switch from bass to handling the second guitar. This is very natural move for him and for the band, since he is an extremely talented guitar player, has been playing guitar in Nowen (and other bands) for ages, and his role as a songwriter for Witheria has lately been increasing.


II - New album

Yes, we are going to record a new album. During the last year or so, we have been busy writing new material for our fourth album. We are now working on 8-9 titles that we want to get absolutely crushing and ready for the recording sessions that will be taking place early autumn this year for a late 2013 / early 2014 release. The material is varied as always, with some old tricks and new twists to keep you breaking your neck!


III - Looking for a bass player

Due to aforementioned line-up changes, we are now looking for a bass player to complete our new line-up. We hope for a metal loving, hard thrashing individual, who can handle his/her bass and does not fear odd time signatures. We operate from Southern Finland in Finnish, so that's a must.
