Minä pidän kyllä Book Of The Deadista, samalla tasolla debyytin kanssa. Tuo uusin Tabula Rasa jääkin sitten selkeästi molemmille, Urban Breedin paluusta huolimatta. Lisättäköön, että iso osa kakkoslevyn viehätystä on Michael Bormannin (ex-Jaded Heart & pari hyvää soololevyä!) muikea, kähisevä ääni.

Eipä kumpikaan noista Nosferatun jälkeisistä levyistä pärjää debyytille.

Ei pärjännyt ei. Tabula Rasa hakkasi kyllä Book Of The Deadin hyvin pitkälti. Mutta kaukana ollaan silti depyytin tasosta.

Mutta pelkästään tuon depyytin ansiosta jäi bändistä ihan jees fiilis.

Täytyi kuunnella tuo AntiSmulin kehaisema Fallen From Grace, kun herrat, joidenka musiikkimieltymykset natsaavat aika hyvin yhteen omani kanssa, ovat tuota Bloodboundia niin kovasti kehunut. Kova biisi, vaikka tässä todellakin kuuluu tuo Eagle Fly Free läpi ihan kiitettävästi. Ei sillä, että biisiä mitenkään huonontaisi, päinvastoin.

Ja nyt lähti heti perään Midnight Sun. Jos on samaa laatua, kuin edellinen, niin täytyyhän tuo Nosferatu hyllyyn haalia.

Edit. Olihan se aivan stanan kova! Kertosäe jäi päähän soimaan, mikä ei voi olla ainakaan huonon hevin merkki. Vielä yksi maistiasbiisi, kun ei pysty lopettamaan, ja sen jälkeen sitten levy ostoon. Katsokaas, että jää jotain yllätyksiäkin. Pistetääs vaikka tuo Behind the Moon soimaan.

Mulle tuo Tabula Rasa toimii kyllä parhaiten. Kaksi ekaa on ihan kivaa mutta hyvin kaavamaista ruotsipoweria, melkein kuin jotain Sabatonia tai Dream Eviliä kuuntelisi. TR:llä mentiin sitten vähän eri suuntaan, itse asiassa se kuulostaa hiukan enemmän Breedin viimeisiltä Tad Morose -levyiltä ja sehän passaa.

Ja minähän kun en powerista mitään tiedä niin hehkuttelen taas yhtä uutta tuttavuutta. Kotimainen Thaurorod julkasee debyytin ihan näillä näppäimillä ja pakkohan sitä on hiukan kehasta. Promolätty on pyöriny aika ahkerasti soittimessa ja varmaan tulee ihan oikeakin levy hankittua, sen verran hyvin toimii. Historiikit sun muut taustat saa kukin kaivella ite jos kiinnostaa. Mutta maininnan ansaitsee ainakin vokalisti Markku Kuikka. Komia on miehen ääni!

Kotimainen Ghost Machinery on julkaissut uuden levyn Taage Laihon kanssa. Ghost Machinery - Out For Blood. Itse en niin ole Taagen lauluista aikaisemmin välittänyt mutta tämän bändin kanssa toimii kyllä todella hyvin! Ei ehkä kaikkein omaperäisin bändi mutta hoitaa hommansa hienosti. IC, Jussi K ja kumppanit, ottakaas kuunteluun tämä lätty.

^Jep. Eka levy toisen laulajan kanssa oli vähän mitäänsanomaton, mutta tämä uutuus vakuuttaa. Taage on levyllä suorastaan parhaimmillaan, koska yliäänikiekumisia ei kuulla ollenkaan, mies operoi omimmilla alueillaan. Erittäin vakuuttava suoritus Taagelta ja biisimatsku on just tarpeeksi vahvaa.

Joo, otin jo, kiitos. Yllätti minutkin positiivisesti, vaikkei tuo eka Ghost Machinerykään (varsinkaan 4€ hintaan fireboxilta joskus) heikko ole ollenkaan, mutta tämä on mainio!

& pitää sanoa, että tämä oli jonkinmoinen yllätys, vallan hyvä levy! Olen mie ekaa, Haunting Remainsiakin pitänyt aina arvossa (tsekatkaapa muuten, jos jäi 2004 sivuun kun melodista metallia kuitenkin piisasi julkaisukanavissa nykyistä enemmän), mutta tämä menee vahvemmaksi bändilevyksi ja samalla kokonaisuudeksikin näistä kahdesta. Taagekin kuulostaa nyt paremmalta kuin missään, ei esim. edellistä enklanninkielistä pestiään Altariassa voi laittaa samalle viivallekaan, tai sitten se on vain tarttuvammasta materiaalista kiinni. Mutta tämän päätösbiisin lisäksi Name Remains In History & hyvä slovari Lost In Time olivat parhaimmistossa. Muttei kyllä mitään erityisen heikkoakaan ollut matkassa, suosittelen muillekin.

Täälläkö meillä oli "vain" Lost Horizonista juttua, sorry tuplaposti. Mutta olen tosiaan yrittänyt viime aikoina uskaltaa kuunnella tätä vuosikausia pyhää albumikaksikkoa muulloinkin, kuin (kunnioituksesta, pelonsekaisessa) kauheassa kännissä, häiriötekijöistä eristyneenä, vihko kourassa optimaalisissa kotiolosuhteissa. Aiheuttaa vain km/h-lukeman ja synkronisoidustikin volyymin nousua kun tuollaisella 1000 kilsan työajelulla laittaa jompaakumpaa soimaan. Aivan uskomatonta aina vain, hitto kun saisi vielä aktiiviseksi tämänkin albumin ja keikkojen suhteen. Pitää tosin olla onnellinen tuosta paljonpuhutusta ainoastakin...
Sain muuden roudariltaan parisen vkoa sitten paidat, kun monen vuoden nysväämisen jälkeen lähetin viime kuussa neljä kyssää göteborgiin. Jos kanssa-followerit tilaavat niin suosittelen pieniä kokoja (itse otin M & S-koot, joista jälkimmäinenkin on 175/65 -pienelle sekin totuttua isompi). Mutta ei haittaa kun ovat niin vitun siistejä ehkä myös vähän ohukaista materiaalia, mutta sen viileämpiä sitten eivätkä kaikkein ilmaa läpäisemättömintä 200% fruit of the doomia laadultaan.
Huh, kyllähän siellä vastaantulevat katsovat motarilla notta mitä hittoa tuo jannu kirkuu ratissa...

Vaikea ymmärtää ko. kaksikon toisen levyn kolahtamattomuutta, jos toinenkin niin tekee. Mutta syvällisempänä tuo AFTTGB on itselleni parempi, joten toisaalta tuollaisessa saatta ollakin jotain perää. Kun juuri menin ns-topicissa Think Not Foreverin sen ainoana himmeämpänä helmenä mainitsemaan, niin tuo Denial Of Fate on muuten omalla kohdallani sellainen Awakening The Worldin biiseistä. 95% muista bändeistä nuo olisivat albumin parhaiden joukossa, mutta nyt rima on ihan liian korkealla. Yli-inhimillisen, suorastaan.

Hitto kun LH:illekin kävisi kuten Falconerille... heidänkin kohdalla näet ehdin jo märistä, miten sveduilla jäi upeasti alkanut juttu kahteen todella hyvään levyyn ja sitten kävi heikosti. Mutta, kuten kaksi tuoreinta Falconeria todistaa, toisenlainenkin tulevaisuus on mahdollinen.

Jos joillekin ei ole jo tuttu, niin sanottakoon itsestäänselvyys miten vokalisti Daniel Heiman + mukaansa lähtenyt kakkoskitaristi perustivat heti perään HEED:in, jonka The Call -täyspitkää suosittelen suuresti.

Last Drop Of Blood-musiikkivideonsa tuolla. Vaikkei tuo nyt tietenkään tälle pärjää. Klassinen musiikkivideo aina yhtä tulitikkuaskin kokoisena, muullaisella resoluutiolla tuota ei lie olekaan.

Edit: Laitetaan nyt samalla pitkästä aikaa näitäkin: Noin kuukausi Tuskan 2003 (uskomattoman*) keikkansa jälkeen perustaja-Wojtek oli ehtinyt lähteä jo litomaan ennen seuraavan vuoden (nyky tilanteeseen asti jatkuneita) muutoksia.

Mutta Hultsfredin Gates Of Metal -festarit saatiin tallennettua näemmä parin kuvaajankin voimin talteen ja bootlegiksi. Ei missään nimessä täydellistä jälkeä (kiipparit liian isolla, vain yksi kitara (kenties tätä vajetta paikkaamassa) & basisti soittaa kainalotyyliin) mutta hyvin vaikuttavaa siitä huolimatta. On Their website, KIUAS announces the departure of lead singer Ilja Jalkanen:

"Hello folks! We have some startling news: our lead singer Ilja Jalkanen has decided to leave the band after some serious thinking. The reasons for this are purely musical and the chemistry within the band has always been great. In Ilja’s own words: “My heart is not in heavy metal anymore, and a great band like Kiuas deserves a singer completely dedicated to the music.”

However, as all the fans know, although Ilja has been the voice of Kiuas for many years, his contribution to the songwriting has been very minimal and thus his departure won’t affect the bands musical direction or diminish the power of the music in the future in any way. The fact is that Kiuas will be able to continue it’s musical journey with passion only without Ilja – this is the only way to go.

Unfortunately Ilja won’t be able to perform the gigs we have booked for October 29th-31st. We we’re on the verge of cancelling them, but luckily we were able to get talented vocalist Asim Searah to stand in for Ilja on those gigs. We apologize for announcing this so late, but we had agreed with the local promoters to do the UK tour before we announced Ilja leaving the band.

We also have some good news: Ilja will still perform a farewell gig with Kiuas in Helsinki in January 2011. The exact date and venue will be announced later."

Päällimmäinen fiilis itsellä on vitutus. Kovasti kyllä Iljan suorituksista olen tykännyt livenä & levyllä. Mutta tavallaan tämä oli odotettavissakin. Jonkun muinaisen Lutakon-keikan jälkeen kun suht sumeissa olotiloissa tuli Iljan kanssa jaariteltua, niin kävi kyllä hyvin selväksi että intohimot olivat aivan jossain muualla kuin heavy metalin veivaamisessa.

Hyvä saada vähän jotain todistetta miehen puhtaista vokaaleistakin, kun pääbändinsä (Nibiruan) vokalisointi tuntuisi olevan pääosin örinää. Kyllä tuossa pätkässä jotain epäpuhtauksia on, liekö sitten flunssa ollut tai jotain, mutta onhan tuo perusääni aivan komea. Iljan lauluääni ja varsinkin lavakarisma on kuitenkin sellaista tasoa, että aikamoinen temppu on, jos yhtä hyvän korvaajan tuohon saavat. Perjantaina näkee & kuulee sitten livenä, biisimateriaali ainakin on sitä tasoa bändillä, että eiköhän tuosta takuuvarman nautittava Kiuas-keikka tule. Varsinkin kun uusin levy oli erittäin mieluinen, parasta sitten debyytin. Ainakin luulisi hyvät lämmöt saavan Turisasta varten. Kerrankin hyvä kombinaatio, ja vielä sisätiloissa, maistuu kyllä.

Ehkäpä tämä kommentti kuuluu tänne. Tuon uuden Teräsbetoni-sinkun kävin kuuntelemassa kahteen kertaan kotisivuillansa. Ihan hyvä biisi, ei voi moittia.

Alussa oli sävyjä Dion tuotannosta, keskellä edelleen silkkaa Manowaria ja lopussa heittivät fiilikset Running Wildin suuntaan, jostain syystä. Tuossa valossa taidan tilata uuden levyn ihan ennakkoon.

Jaa, miekin kuuntelin musiikkivideonsa kun Mape oli sen Impen etusivulle pykännyt mutta minusta vahviten mieleen tulivat Tony Iommin riffittelyt & (toki Dio-ajan) Black Sabbath ylipäätään. Aika karsea tuo biisi kuitenkin loppujen lopuksi oli, mitä nyt viime hetkien hidastettu pääteema toimi paremmin kuin muualla kappaleessa.

Florida-based metallers CRIMSON GLORY have announced Todd La Torre as their new lead vocalist and frontman to lead them into the next era. The decision was made official on April 29, 2010.

Commented lead guitarist Jon Drenning: "We (the band) all sat down and discussed the idea, and all agreed that Todd was a perfect fit. He embodies so many of the qualities that made [late CRIMSON GLORY singer] Midnight such a superb singer/songwriter. In Todd, we have found a healthy, light-hearted, happy-go-lucky character with a winning personality and a true love and passion for what he does and the music he creates. He amazed us from the get-go, and it is the general opinion of the band that, with Todd La Torre, CRIMSON GLORY will sound as good, if not better than ever.

"We, as a band, have had the opportunity to work with some extremely talented singers (Midnight, David Van Landing and Wade Black). Ultimately we agreed that a relatively unknown singer would be beneficial; Todd is a blank canvas in the sense that he doesn't have any other prior musical history that could affect the overall sound that defines CRIMSON GLORY. The fact that he is a local talent with exceptional vocal and songwriting skills made this the ideal situation and most suitable to our creative endeavors for the future."

Added bassist Jeff Lords: "It's refreshing to know that in a highly competitive industry, one that is seemingly operating in an uncaring, indifferent universe, that plain ol' good luck can come around at just the right time, as Todd is the perfect addition to CRIMSON GLORY, and he is someone with whom I truly look forward to collaborating."

Stated drummer Dana Burnell: "I feel great about Todd joining the band. His ability to sing the vintage songs is unmatched. I've had the pleasure of hearing him sing over some of our original recorded tracks as well as in rehearsals, where the very first night he blew me away.

"Since Midnight's death, myself and the other surviving members of CRIMSON GLORY have really strengthened our bond; we are closer than we've ever been, and now with the addition of Todd I'm extremely excited about the band's future."

Commented guitarist Ben Jackson: "Todd is a very talented singer who expresses himself incredibly well. I'm looking forward to working together and breaking new ground with CRIMSON GLORY. Essentially unknown to the mainstream progressive metal scene, La Torre spent 22 years earning his stripes and solidifying himself as an unquestionable talent behind the drum kit of various hard rock and heavy metal projects in the Tampa Bay, Florida area; however, his vocal aspirations went largely unfulfilled until last year when Matt LaPorte (JON OLIVA'S PAIN), who had only heard La Torre sing on a few occasions, casually mentioned to Drenning that he might make a nice addition to the already stellar lineup of performers the band had accumulated. It was only a short time later that La Torre found himself at the band's rehearsal studio, and the pieces began to fall into place.

The members of CRIMSON GLORY also commented on singer Wade Black's involvement with the band thus far, and on continuing without Black as the frontman of CRIMSON GLORY.

"It should be noted that Wade was very respectful to Todd and made him feel at home," the group states. "That spoke volumes to us about him as a person and his strong character. He was accommodating and a gentleman in every sense of the word.

"We truly appreciate Wade's outstanding contribution as a member of CRIMSON GLORY and on his performance on the 'Astromonica' album. He has been an integral part of the CRIMSON GLORY legacy; replacing Midnight was no small task and he accomplished it admirably and with all of his heart while adding his own sound and style to our music. It was difficult for him to have to come in and sing an album bearing the weight of the scrutiny and expectations of Midnight loyal fan base on his shoulders, but he managed to get the job done with flying colors both in the studio and live onstage. We're also extremely proud of the accomplishments that Wade has achieved since then with his other projects.

"Wade will always be a part of our family and we hope to share the stage with him in the future when the opportunity presents itself. However, at this point in the band's history, it's time to go in a new direction, and we are united in feeling that Todd would be a more ideal fit for the sound and style we wish to create and help us advance far into the future."

Drenning also hints at an upcoming European tour dates, as well as new material: "We are presently making plans to head to Europe this winter for a short roster of shows before kicking off the spring/summer tour season. METALIUM quit


Sad news for fans of METALIUM. On their homepage the band announced to split and stop all activities in 2011.

After nearly 13 years with 9 CDs and 2 DVDs the chapter METALIUM will come to an end.
But they won't go without one last present for their fans: In 2011 they will release their final Live CD, which will also include 4-5 new studio songs as well as rare photos and additional footage.

The first part of their farewell shows already took place in Spain last month.

CG:tä voisi melkein lähteä ulkomaille asti katsomaan, Keep it True on jo loppuunmyyty mutta myös BYH:ssa on yleensä ollut aika maukas esiintyjälista. Ehkäpä Sweden Rockikin vielä nappaa bändin.
