Nyt se saatana on jo luennoitsijakin. Mut onhan sillä nykyisin vissiin oppiarvot ja kaikki.

Re: Maiden medioissa
#3: 'The Trooper' (1983 - Piece Of Mind)
Rod Smallwood: "Again perhaps an obvious choice but I have to include it because it's simply a killer song and a staple in Maiden's live shows. We'll be playing it this year with a lot of the other big songs mentioned here as this is a history tour so the setlist will be full of songs from this period which will surprise and delight people I'm sure."
#4: 'Can I Play With Madness' (1988 - Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son)
Rod Smallwood: "This was a big single from the Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son album. Maiden had four Top Ten singles from this album and Madness was the first. I do remember we had a lot of fun making the video for it. It featured Graham Chapman, one of the Monty Python team, who has sadly since passed away. The video was edited by Julian Doyle who worked on, amongst many other things, the film Time Bandits and he also later
collaborated with Bruce Dickinson to direct the Chemical Wedding film. It was a fantastic video and was a very different song for Maiden at the time which went down very well with the fans, and continues to do so."
#5: 'Hallowed Be Thy Name' (1983 - The Number Of The Beast)
Rod Smallwood: "This was another song from The Number Of The Beast album which really seemed to strike a chord with people. Nicko says if we ever stop playing this song live then he'll stop playing with Maiden. But I don't think there's ever any danger of that happening. Hallowed is a firm favourite with all the band and I believe with all the fans too. It's certainly one of my favourites."
Nicko eroaa pändistä, jumalaare! Kuka korvaajaksi, ehdotuksia?
#6: 'Run To The Hills' (1983 - The Number Of The Beast)
Rod Smallwood: "This one is probably in most people's Top 5 Maiden songs and it's a fairly obvious choice as it was the first single to be released off The
Number Of The Beast album and it was a smash hit in the UK. We'd done pretty well with singles up to that point, we'd always go into the Top 30. Back in those days, when 7" vinyl singles were released in a nice bag and were a physical thing to own and treasure, tens of thousands of copies were sold each week. 'Run To The Hills' really took off. It reached No 7 and sold over a quarter of a million copies in the UK. It put Maiden firmly in the public eye, which in turn catapulted The Number Of The Beast into a whole new stratosphere, so I have very great memories of that song and its significance to Maiden's career. "
#7: 'Aces High' (1984 - Powerslave)
Rod Smallwood: "An all time favourite. I think its arguably the best show-opener we have. We did it on the Somewhere Back In Time Tour 2008/9 and I'm sure it'll be featured during the forthcoming Maiden England Tour; it's certainly on my request list! I just love the whole theatricality of the song. The slow build from the initial throbbing of the aircraft engines, to the sombre, uplifting Churchill's speech, then the music kicks in and launches itself at you with a full-on musical thrust of energy, then Bruce comes in and jolts the whole thing into orbit! Still to this day that song gives me goosebumps. Fantastic. A pure fist-clenching, from the heart, rock-out anthem."
#8: 'Where Eagles Dare' (1983 - Piece Of Mind)
Rod Smallwood: "I just absolutely love the rhythm of this track, or as I call it 'the twiddly bits'. The change of rhythm in the break is really, really hard for Nicko (McBrain), or any drummer actually, and Nicko isn't too bad a drummer is he? Seriously, I know from him how tough it is to play, and for that reason I love to watching it live. Knowing how difficult it is, I just know he's sweating and it's wonderful to see how brilliantly he deals with it."
#9: 'Phantom Of The Opera' (1981)
Rod Smallwood: "Just majestic. The very first time I ever saw Maiden live, they played this song and it was just jaw-dropping. It still is. It showed the depth of Steve's song-writing talent and it was just so impressive the way the band could pull off such a very, very complex number, right from the off in a tiny pub setting and make it sound so magnificent."
#10: 'Prowler' (1981)
Rod Smallwood: "This is a wonderful song. I include it as one of my favourites because it's the first Iron Maiden track I ever heard. When I first got the tape, which was from Basement Studio - and which eventually became The Soundhouse Tapes - it was via a rugby mate of mine who was working with Steve Harris at the time and I was given it to listen to along the lines of: 'Rod. A mate at work has a band. Do you wanna hear the demos?' I took it home, put the tape in the deck and the first song that came up was 'Prowler'. Being a heavy rock fan in the middle of the punk rock era (I grew up listening to DEEP PURPLE, LED ZEPPELIN, THE WHO etc...) it was very refreshing to hear something with so much manic energy. The Tapes went on to be the #1 requested music at The Soundhouse, a legendary rock club in London run by a DJ called Neal Kay. So it's always going to be a memorable song in my life as it alerted me to Iron Maiden and how very different they sounded to everything else going on at that time."

Sentään vähän hillitympi kuin tämä.

"Iron Maiden frontman Bruce Dickinson halted a concert in Indiana--"
Oli joo melkoinen showstopperi.

Mut no, jostainhan ne otsikot on revittävä.

Steve vierailee That Metal Show:ssa tällä tuotantokaudella
Vaikka kyllä tätä hieman osasi varovaisesti odottaakin, tuon British Lion-julkistuksen ja Maidenin US Tourin vuoksi. Jakso tullee ulos joskus syyskuun tienoilla.

Nippelitietoa:Blaze Bayley hoped to get the audition tape from Iron Maiden if he didn't get the job. Steve Harris told him "no," but that they would send him the tape of the guy who did get the job!

DEEP PURPLE, LED ZEPPELIN, IRON MAIDEN, QUEEN Members To Take Part In 'The Sunflower Jam'
The 2012 edition of The Sunflower Jam will take place on Sunday, September 16 at the Royal Albert Hall in London, England. The evening, hosted by actor Jeremy Irons, will consist of many very special performances from confirmed artists such as Bruce Dickinson, Ian Paice (DEEP PURPLE), Mark King, Alfie Boe, Brian May (QUEEN) and Kerry Ellis and John Paul Jones (LED ZEPPELIN).
Jacky Paice, wife of Ian Paice, set up The Sunflower Jam charity in 2006 to help people treat cancer within the UCLH (University College London Hospitals). Now the charity raises acceptance of an integrated approach in medical treatment. By educating, supporting, informing and developing services around patient-centric care, and by bringing together doctors, health professionals, scientists and patients, alongside an array of musicians who not only perform but support the cause, the organizers aim to create a wider network of support and raise awareness through their event.
The charity will work by supporting initiatives set up to bridge the gap between integrated, functional and conventional medicine with a natural approach to wellness for children, young people, adults and their families with a range of acute and chronic emotional, mental and physical conditions.
Adds Bruce Dickinson: "The Sunflower Jam is a great night out and a fabulous meeting of musical styles and personalities for a unique and very worthy cause."

Classic Rock Magazine haastatteli Steveä British Lionin tiimoilta: http://www.classicrockmagazine.com/feat ... o-project/
Erityisen mielenkiintoinen pätkä:
Classic Rock: Will British Lion free up other people in Maiden to do more solo stuff?
Steve: I think Bruce will do another one: we were talking about my album the other day and I think it got him thinking that it’s been 10 years since he last did one. So it’s probably time he did another one. Maybe this will prove to everyone that you can be in Maiden and do other stuff as well. And there’ll definitely be another British Lion record. I want to do more things with Maiden obviously, but if some of the guys decide that they don’t want to do as much in the future, then I’ve got this as well: this is my safety valve, because what else am I gonna do? I want to cram in as much as possible before I kick the bucket.
Josko sieltä Brucelta sitten jotain ensi vuonna tulisi.
Toivotaan parasta!
