That man above is Steve Harris of Iron Maiden, an INCREDIBLY nice guy! The father of 6 (!!) soccer player and Bass player of the band.I tell you, the harder the music, the nicer the guys! I brought Jasmine and her gal pal to the show, then they had me get a male friend ( age 14 too) in. At one point, I thought I saw most of Jasmines school in the crowd banging their heads like Beavis and Butthead!

It was great to see the band again, they were all in god spirits and I finally met Bruce ( briefly) as last time I massaged them, they had an egomaniac singing, his name was "BLAZE" so you can just imagine how he was. Nico and Dave were all smiles and friendly as always, and Adrian, the guitar player got a back rub, says it was the first one he has ever had. I hope to massage them again in NYC in January. Rock on guys!

...Illan jossakin vaiheessa olin näkevinäni tutun näköisen hahmon hiippailevan saluunaan sisään. Tyyppi näytti hämmästyttävästi Janick Gersiltä, Iron Maidenin kitaristilta. Vielä kun perässä keikkui sisään Dave Murray, tiesin olevani oikeassa. Jumaliste, lapsuusaikojeni idolit samassa baarissa! Mielenliikutuksestani huolimatta päätin kuitenkin olla häiriköimättä musikantteja, saavat varmasti tarpeekseen olalletaputtelijoista ja nimmarinruinaajista. Jostain syystä ilmeeni huomannut bändin roudari tuli kysymään tunnenko kyseisiä herroja ja haluaisimmeko hänen esittelevän meidät Maidenin pojille. Miksi näin tapahtui, en tiedä, ja olin lievästi sanoen hämmästynyt kysymyksestä, mutta sen enempää taivuttelua ei vaadittu!

Kun käteltyämme ja muutaman sanan vaihdettuamme sanoin, että häivymme bändiä häiritsemästä, Dave kysyi että mihin moinen kiire, ilta on nuori ja piikki on auki. Loppuyön siis dokasimme paskaa jauhaen Maidenin piikkiin. Myös herra Dickinson poikkesi paikalla sivistyneemmin punkkua siemaillen, juttuseurana osoittautui hieman kylmemmäksi… Raskas ilta vaatii veronsa, ja tässä kohtaa hinta on muistikuvien pätkittäisyys, mutta muistan ihmetelleeni Davelle, mitä he tekevät Antwerpenissä tällaisessa pikkubaarissa? Musikantti sanoi asuvansa kaupungissa, koska meno on rentoa, ihmiset mukavia ja kylillä saa kulkea rauhassa.

Iron Maiden’s Bruce Dickinson To Create 1,000 New Jobs In Wales, Remains A Total Legend

God damn it we love this man. Iron Maiden singer and professional pilot/legend Bruce Dickinson has opened an aircraft maintenance business, Cardiff Aviation Ltd, which will be based at the Twin Peaks Hangar at St Athan, Vale of Glamorgan in Wales.

The business will create around 1,000 new jobs in the area, which if you ask us, is pretty damn sweet.

“We’re coming into this enterprise with the knowledge that we’ll also be bringing business to south Wales,” says Brucey Bruce.

“South Wales has long had an association with the aircraft industry and I am delighted that I am able to have a small part in the continuation of that tradition.”

Immense. Meanwhile, Iron Maiden kick off their Maiden England US tour this June, and to be frank, the whole thing looks fucking amazing.

^RTTH:n ottamista settiin pidän hyvin todennäköisenä, sillä tuota hittiä ei olla kuultu kyllä vähään aikaan ja onhan se nyt livenä ihan helvetin paljon parempi kuin jo tylsäksi muodostunut Running Free, vaikka sekin on myös toiminut hyvin setin päättäjänä viimeisen parin vuoden ajan.

Legendary Mastering Engineer GEORGE MARINO Passes


The metal world has lost producer/engineer GEORGE MARINO who called Sterling Sound in New York City home since 1973 and established his reputation with projects such as METALLICA's Metallica, AC/DC's Highway To Hell, GUNS N' ROSES' Appetite for Destruction and BON JOVI's Slippery When Wet.

He passed away today (Monday, June 4) after a year-long battle with lung cancer.
His metal resume is massive working with the likes of OZZY OSBOURNE, IRON MAIDEN, DEEP PURPLE, DIO, DOKKEN, ANTHRAX, SAXON, SEPULTURA, DANZIG, DEATH ANGEL, OVERKILL, W.A.S.P., EXODUS, FLOTSAM AND JETSAM, HELLOWEEN, KROKUS and numerous others.

George started as a musician, playing rock n’ roll guitar in New York City bands. His first job in the industry was as a librarian and assistant at Capitol Studios in 1967. He then apprenticed in the mastering department, helping cut rock, pop, jazz and classical albums. When Capitol shut down its New York studio, and before heading to Sterling Sound, George joined the fledgling Record Plant, eventually becoming a partner in the recording-mastering studio. There he quickly established his reputation with projects such as DON MCLEAN’s American Pie and classic albums by THE ALLMAN BROTHERS BAND and STEVIE WONDER.

Millä todennäköisyydellä Maidenin markkinointikoneisto tajuaa tehdä juhlan kunniaksi jotain (vaikkapa 180gram prässin)? Zero..

^Ei ne varmaan kehtaa, kun levyn 20v-synttärit huomioitiin julkaisujen suhteen joidenkin mielestä vähän turhankin överisti.. Keräilymielessä uusi vinyyli maistuisi toki ja miksei muutenkin kyl. Aika moneltahan ton nyt luulis löytyvän hyllystä.

To help celebrate the Maiden England World North American Tour 2012, we are honoured with the presence of legendary Iron Maiden manager ROD SMALLWOOD who will fittingly take us on his own private history lesson as he talks about his Top Ten Iron Maiden Songs From The '80s. In no particular order, let's take a look back when Eddie ruled the '80s!

Says Rod Smallwood: "These are my favourite ten Maiden tracks, in no particular order, which have been selected from the 1980s as this is the period the Maiden England tour is covering. At the time of writing the band are rehearsing for the tour. All systems go! Here are my favourite tracks from the '80s for a variety of reasons."


#10: 'Prowler' (1981)
Rod Smallwood: "This is a wonderful song. I include it as one of my favourites because it's the first Iron Maiden track I ever heard. When I first got the tape, which was from Basement Studio - and which eventually became The Soundhouse Tapes - it was via a rugby mate of mine who was working with Steve Harris at the time and I was given it to listen to along the lines of: 'Rod. A mate at work has a band. Do you wanna hear the demos?' I took it home, put the tape in the deck and the first song that came up was 'Prowler'. Being a heavy rock fan in the middle of the punk rock era (I grew up listening to DEEP PURPLE, LED ZEPPELIN, THE WHO etc...) it was very refreshing to hear something with so much manic energy. The Tapes went on to be the #1 requested music at The Soundhouse, a legendary rock club in London run by a DJ called Neal Kay. So it's always going to be a memorable song in my life as it alerted me to Iron Maiden and how very different they sounded to everything else going on at that time."
