Tuon tossa muutama viikko sitten huomasin, aivan mahtavan kuuloinen pianollakin. No Prayer For The Dying kuullostaa myös hyvältä pianolla. Mutta tosiaan, kyllä tossakin näkee kuinka hieno tuo Afraidin riffi onkaan.

Kerrangin haastattelun perusteella Run to the hills-kirjassa oli asiavirhe kun väitettiin, etteivät Bruce ja Steve olleet puhuneet keskenään Brucen lähdön jälkeen.

Tämä onkin mennyt ihan ohi, löytyi Sepulturan viralliselta sivustolta. Tämänkaltaisesta matsistahan Sepulturan hemmot haaveili jo 2000 vuonna, joten muutama vuosi meni järkkäilemiseen

Ai ai mitä löytyi tuon Metal for muthas osion 80-forum topiikista. Nimittäin siellä oli alussa puhetta Kheldan nimisesta herrasta jolla oli aikoinaan varsin kattavat Iron Maiden sivustot ja ovat edelleen, mutta edellinen päivitys on Reunionin ajalta 1999.

Kylläpäs oli mukava löytää noita vanhoja uutisia Brucen ja Adrianin paluun ajalta, niin paljon muistoja tuli mieleen kun noita lueskeli, että ihan herkistyy

Mielestäni nämä vanhat uutiset ansaitsee päästä tänne Rautaneitoon, sillä niin mielenkiintoisia ja suuria uutisia niissä pyöriteltiin metallimaailmalle. Näille voisi melkein perustaa oman Iron Maiden Reunion time topikin, mutta säästän nyt ihmiset siltä. Tämä on ehkä kiinnostavaa uudemmille Maiden faneille, jotka tuolloin ei vielä päässyt seuraamaan hienoa hetkeä Maidenin uralla, koska eivät vielä pändistä ollut ehkä kuullut.

18, January, 1999 Bruce Dickinson Cancelled US Leg Of Tour

According to many online reports Bruce Dickinson's North American tour has been cancelled. The reason cited is that Bruce is unhappy with the lack of cash his US record company (CMC) is prepared to put behind the tour.

4, February, 1999 Reunion Officially Denied

Both Iron Maiden and Bruce Dickinson have flatly denied that a reunion is forthcoming. Sanctuary have issued a press release with the short but sweet statement - "Bollocks!".

Bruce meanwhile has spoken to Kerrang! and had this to say:

"It would be very difficult for me to rejoin Maiden, seeing as Blaze is still in the band, from what I understand! People have asked me about these fucking rumours every five minutes, ever since my solo records started to get cracking reviews!

[My schedule] is set in stone. I'm going to play my own headlining shows from April 16. When we get back, Roy Z and I are going to write songs for a new album, which should be released by the year 2000.

People keep coming up to me and asking, 'Is it true that Blaze is out of the band?. I'm sure if he was out of the band, I'd have heard about it."

When asked if he would ever return to the band, if asked he said:

"I don't know! In the right circumstances it would be a bit of a laugh. But it all depends on somebody saying something. Nobody has said anything, so as far as I'm concerned, nothing's happening."

But IMO this is just to hide the truth.

6, February, 1999 Band to make 'announcement' this coming Friday

Well, things are definitely happening. Iron Maiden are all set to make an announcement about *something* on this coming week's Friday Rock Show on VH-1 Europe. Quite what form this is going to take is still open to debate - obviously rumours suggest a reunion with the '83-'89 line-up of the band but we'll have to wait a few days longer to know for sure.

On Rock Radio Network's web site at the moment they have this message posted:

"THE METAL EVENT OF THE DECADE IS COMING... WILL YOU BE THERE? THE WHOLE ROCK WORLD WILL BE TALKING ABOUT THIS FOR MONTHS TO COME... IT WILL BE HAPPENING EXCLUSIVELY RIGHT HERE EARLY NEXT WEEK. BOOKMARK THIS PAGE NOW AND WATCH THIS SPACE FOR DETAILS. WHATEVER YOU DO, DON'T MISS IT!"

Related? We shall see......

8, February, 1999 Press Conference to be Held on the 25th this month

This is an extract of another message posted on Hard Radio's web site regarding the future of the band. I've removed the rest of it because it included nothing that hasn't been said before:

"BW&BK has also been told that before the end of February ALL RUMOURS will be resolved at a press conference in London, brought to you exclusively in North America by HardRadio."

9, February, 1999 Official Announcement Tomorrow

A 'major band announcement' is to take place tomorrow evening at the offical Iron Maiden web site @ 6pm British time.

Iron Maiden's signatures have also appeared on a document being sent to the European Parliament to protect artists' interests with regard to their work beind distributed electronically. Four hundred signatures have appeared on the petition in an aim to tighten copyright laws making it more difficult to distribute MP3s and CDRs.

Sky News reports the story as follows:

"The musicians, composers and producers want clear, strict laws on the use of original works and copies relayed on the Internet.

They say they need laws to allow them to use the technical systems that can protect their works in the digital era.

The Commission proposals are designed to avoid giving pirates a blank cheque to make perfect digital copies of music and other works distributed online."

Kerrang! today restated the rumours surrounding the band that have been circulating around the internet. The did, however, have this to add:

"Plans for Bruce's return were made public last Friday when a report on Virgin Megastores Radio, Virgin's in-store radio station, detailed the split between Maiden and Blaze.

Blaze's plans at this stage remain unclear, although Bruce is expected to run his solo career in tandem with his commitments to Maiden.

Maiden's future intentions are currently firmly under wraps, although tour dates are being booked for later this year with the possibility of an album to follow. The band are expected to comment further on the situation next week...."

Another few hours and we'll hopefully have official confirmation of exactly what's going to happen.....

10, February, 1999 5:00 PM Reunion Officially Announced!

Iron Maiden, 1999:

Well, as you can see from the above picture the reunion is most certainly official! A press release and Q&A page has been posted on the official web site.

Check www.ironmaiden.com for the full press release and question & answers - the more important points are outlined here:

US & European Tour to take place in July, August & September of this year.

Full world tour to follow in 2000.

New studio album to be recorded at the end of '99

Ed Hunter is to finally be released in May of this year.

Also, Rock Radio Network are to broadcast a live interview with the band on the 25th February which will also be made available on the internet through Hard Radio.

Steve & Bruce (along with everyone else) were asked how it felt to be together again after so long and this is what they had to say:

Bruce: It doesn't feel like so long, in fact, at all. When we got back in the room together, me and Steve gave each other a great big hug. He's only ever hugged me three times in my life! Fantastic and great fun. We're all looking forward to making great music and having a phenomenally good time. It was great. We're all making plans as to how we're going to enjoy ourselves while playing this great stuff.

Steve: I think it's going to be really exciting to have Bruce and Adrian back. I'm very excited that there's six people in the band. Three guitar players and all that - I'm looking forward to it a lot. As far as I know, there's no-one in metal or rock that's really done the three guitar thing apart from Skynyrd. I really like the Skynyrd stuff - not that it'll be like that, but it should be interesting. Adrian jammed with us at Donington and it felt great to have three guitar players.

Eihän noilta olekaan kuin tuo Man in the Street 7". Taitaa vaan olla harvinaisuus, mutta se on yleinen vika NWOBHM:n kanssa ja etenkin bändien kanssa joilta ei koskaan tullut ulos kuin yksi seiskatuumainen. Niitä on paljon.

Ja ihan Brucea se oli. Varhaista Brucea miltä lähti vielä todella korkealta todella helposti. Jos jokin tossa Speedissä on pielessä niin nuo purplemaiset urut. Ei vaan sovi.
