Ainakin tänään..Pentelesh wrote:^On mahtavaa, en lähde kieltämään. Tosin, seuraa seuraava seikka. Missä arvojärjestyksessä sun elämä menee? esim, meneekö bileet koulun edelle vai toisinpäin?Asioilla on aina kääntöpuolensa.
Asioilla on aina kääntöpuolensa.

It's 35 euro's, which is quite a lot for a music DVD over here. It had three discs, two featuring the flaming circle like the cd's and one (the extra's disc) has the DOTR cover on it. There seems to have been a production error though because the disc which was labeled as the concert in 5.1 has the documentary on it and the one which has been labelled as special features has the concert on it. Here are some pictures to prove I've got it:

Edit: I've also added the last image of the documentary which confirms that Maiden will release a DVD of the Early Days tourI've already seen part of the DVD and I think this is going to be one release that's going to be the subject of long discussions on this board. The back cover has a big epilepsy warning because of "fast flashing imagery" and it's there for a reason. Anyone that had problems with the flashing images of Rock in Rio will have even more problems with this release. The editing is even faster in my opinion and it can be very distracting. The sound and picture quality is really good though and better than Rock in Rio from what I've seen and heard. Here's some good news: contrary to earlier rumours the DVD does have the full band introduction bit just before Journeyman! Does anyone know where the Bruce speeches are supposed to be? I can check if they're also included.Well I've actually got some cool news for you: you're actually in the documentary Robert! You can be seen getting some stuff signed by the band at what seems to be an airport.
I just finished watching the whole documentary and it's really good. It covers the whole bit from recording the album, preparing for the tour and the tour itself. For people who care, the documentary is in widescreen and has an excellent picture quality. It's really interesting and it's fun to see the band in the studio. You really get a feeling for the way they create an album.
There's also a funny error in the subtitles: the Give me Ed tour is accidentally called the Give Me Head tour. :)
There are also two shorter documentaries on the disc: Life on the Road (45 minutes) which focusses on the crew, and The Fans (30 minutes) which has interviews with fans waiting for a gig. Those two extra documentaries have some of the same footage of the main documentary but are a really nice extra.
By the way, the documentary closes with a message saying that if you missed the summer 05 tour you've got to be on the lookout for the next DVD which will be of the Early Days tour! That's the first time it's been confirmed that they will release a DVD of that tour, right? I bet that's what they will be using the footage for they shot during the Bruce Air flight last year. The concert and the documentary are in widescreen (16:9 anamorphic). The bonus documentaries (Life on the Road and The Fans) are fullscreen (4:3).
Iron Dutchman@offical iron maiden bb wrote:I finally managed to watch the whole Death on the Road concert DVD and here's my review.
First of all, your enjoyment of the concert is really going to depend on if you can stand the editing. I didn't have problems with the editing in Rock in Rio but I think it can be really distracting on this DVD. Sometimes the editing works (Joruneyman) and sometimes it's a complete chaotic mess with cuts every second (Wildest Dreams and Rainmaker). You do get used to it while watching but I'm sure it's going to get a lot of complaints from people.
As for the actual concert, it's an excellent gig in which you can clearly see the band enjoying themselves onstage and the crowd is really into it. Bruce's rants have been cut though, but the song introductions (Dance of Death, Fear of the Dark), the band introduction (before Journeyman) and the band leaving the stage are there. Also worth knowing is that for the first time Adrian has lots of time on screen. That has been a complaint in the past of some fans and I know at least one person who'll be very happy to hear this. :)
The audio and video of the concert is the best it's ever been for an Iron Maiden release. The video has deep backs and excellent colours and it's finally widescreen, unlike Rock in Rio. The audio is in PCM (uncompressed stereo) and Dolby Digital 5.1 (448 kbs for the technophiles). I've mostly listened to the disc with the stereo track through my headphones and it's awesome! It's in my opinion the bext Maiden has ever sounded on a live release. I haven't compared it to the cd yet though but it seems better than what I remember from the cd. I've also listened to the DD 5.1 track and it seems to be a really great mix. I've got to wait for my neighbours to leave before checking that out some more. :)
Then there's the disc with bonus materials. The documentary (in widescreen) is the best I've ever seen on a live release! It covers everything from creating the album to preparing for the tour and the tour itself. It has interviews with people like Kevin Shirley, Bruce's wardrobe assistent, the guitar techs and loads more. I can't think of anything that I wanted to know that was left out. It even answers the question how Dance of Death the album was mastered. There are also two bonus documentaries: Life of the Road and The Fans. These seem mostly like leftovers from the main documentary but they are pretty interesting. The Fans interviews lots of fans waiting in line for a gig. That can get a bit boring because they keep on asking the same questions (how did you get into Maiden?, which songs do you hope they'll play? etc.) Life on the Road is completely about the road crew. It's a nice documentary which really shows you what these people do. There's also an EPK, some promo video's and some photo galleries on the disc but I haven't checked those out yet.
All in all I think if you can get past the editing it's an excellent release of a great gig from the DOD tour with great audio and video and an awesome documentary.I haven't found any easter eggs yet. I'll see if I can find some later.POLISH_EDDIE@offical iron maiden bb wrote:I've a few more questions regarding the bonus disc:
- Have you found any hidden Easter Eggs?
-Yes there's a lot of studio footage in the documentary. You see them in the glass booths, rehearsing some songs (Montsegur and Paschendale) and see them joke around a bit.POLISH_EDDIE@offical iron maiden bb wrote:- Are there many studio footage (like recording of songs etc.) and also some stuff from the rehearsals (both tour and album)?
-There's a lot of footage of the crew building the stage and doing soundchecks. There's no backstage footage of the band though.POLISH_EDDIE@offical iron maiden bb wrote:- Do they exactly show how they prepare for each gig? Like setting up the stage, soundcheck etc?
-Yes there are black and white shots in the concert footage. It's mostly footage of the crowd though and only a couple of the band.POLISH_EDDIE@offical iron maiden bb wrote:- Are there any black and white shots (like on the Viva broadcast) during the concert?
Wildest Dreams and Rainmaker have more cuts, most of the others about the same and some have less cuts like Journeyman for instance.Ironeized@offical iron maiden bb wrote:So does a song has more or less cuts than the trooper clip that is on iron maidens homepage? That song alone contained about some 300 cuts

Spartan wrote:On kyllä todella upea pakkaus!
