No, kuten messulaudalle jo mainitsin, niin Neil Danielsin Killers -the origins of Iron Maiden 1975-83 (2014) on kivan tarkka ja kronologinen väsäys. Äänitys-, keikka- & tapahtumapäivämääriä pudotellaan. Uusia knoppeja itse kullekin varmaan edes jokunen mukana. Samson- ym. jäsenistä kun puhutaan aika paljonkin, niin tämä The Ides Of Marchin lainaaminen Thunderstickin toimesta levylleen ei tullut Danielsilla puheeksi. Mikä siis ihmetytti, mutta ainoa "puute" tähän mennessä, kun Bruce demottaa koelaulujaan.
Tämä tosin vähän epäilyttää, kun ole koskaan kuullut, että Killersin rundilla olisi Di'Annon toimesta ihan neljää TNOTB:in biisiä vedetty paikka paikoin, kerran tai pari: Children Of The Damned, 22 Acacia Avenue, Run To The Hills & The Prisoner

Without doubt, the years 1975-83 cover some of the most interesting moments of Iron Maiden’s career, taking the band from their formation, through myriad line-ups, settling on the classic configuration of Harris/Dickinson/Murray/Smith/McBrain, while also recording four albums now considered cornerstones of metal. For that reason this book is worth a read, but it’s also frustrating; Daniels isn’t a bad writer, but editorial interference is required.
The book is overly informal, surprisingly vague on key dates, repetitive, inaccurate and strangely structured. It doesn’t inspire confidence to be told within two pages that Steve Harris had four songs leftover from Killers that ended up on Number Of The Beast; that original singer Paul Di’Anno had been singing them on tour; that guitarist Adrian Smith had written another for his previous band; and then: the album took some time to record because it was “the first time the band had an album of almost entirely new material”. Unauthorised books about Iron Maiden are valuable because so much of the group’s output is tightly controlled by their management, but, though readable enough, this story still needs to be told.
